Italian Grammar

Italian is a popular and beautiful language of love , but is also one of the most useful languages to learn. Italy is a premier location for business across Europe which makes the language not only an asset for personal growth, but also a crucial tool for participants of the global economy.

A misconception about Italian is that learning it is a difficult endeavor. But in fact, it’s actually much simpler than many think. As Italian is a Romance language, it falls into a linguistic group which also includes French, Portuguese and Spanish. This means, if you already speak one of those languages, learning Italian will be much easier. With the right approach, and assistance from Rosetta Stone, Italian is definitely within reach.

The Italian alphabet is similar to the English one. It uses 21 letters, with five vowels––a, e, i, o, u––and 16 consonants. One of the first features of the Italian language you might notice is the display of double consonants. Common Italian words such as pizza or anno, or the name Alessandra are such examples. As a general rule-of-thumb, when you come across these double letters, you should deemphasize the preceding vowels.

Learning Italian Grammar Rules

While it’s possible to quickly pick up some Italian words and a few basic phrases, it would be difficult to learn the language and Italian grammar rules on your own. That’s where Rosetta Stone comes in!

When learning Italian, you may be tempted to try to memorize long lists of vocabulary words and phrases. However, memorizing vocabulary is not commonly an effective way to learn any language. Rosetta Stone's immersive approach will help you learn the Italian language, not just the words. This method, called Dynamic Immersion, is effective in preparing you to use your new language in your everyday life. It’s not just about the features, but what you’re able to do because of them. Contextualized learning is when words are presented in the situations in which they’d occur. This approach leaves you equipped to handle any situation with ease to confidently understand and speak Italian in real-world conversations.

Another of the many advantages of using Rosetta Stone is its speech-recognition engine which is embedded into every lesson. This patented technology is called TruAccent™. Instant feedback is given so you can make corrections and practice until your mouth gets used to shaping the distinct sounds that make up the Italian language. This helps you align your accent with that of fluent Italian speakers, and can be very effective in helping you learn to understand phrases in your new language. You will have conversational confidence, even if Italy is miles away.

I've been using Rosetta Stone for years to gain basic competency in multiple languages including German, French, Italian, and recently Chinese and Russian. Starts with the very basics teaching basic vocabulary and grammar without any memorization. I've even impressed some locals in my travels with pronunciation and fluency. This is an excellent place to start if interested in starting to learn a new language or brushing up on one learned years ago.

I am trying out Rosetta Stone, to see if it will help out with the correct grammar and conversation (as well as learning how to read and write the language). Within a week, I can already master the sentence structure and start learning the grammar with particles. The local community is so excited to see that I am starting to learn their language. Out of all the language learning tools out there, I 100% recommend Rosetta Stone!

I've tried other language learning software but Rosetta Stone is much more challenging and professional. I don't have to worry about earning points and following the leader board. I'm trying out the ninety day trial to learn some Russian and I will pay for the privilege once I reach the end of the trial.
