PAYMENT & RETURN QUESTIONS

We're here to help you understand your options when it comes to purchase, upgrade, renewal, exchange, or return of Rosetta Stone® products.

  • What are the Easy Payment Plans?

    Our Easy Payment plan allows you to break down the cost of the product into as many as three smaller payments, rather than paying the total cost of the product at once. The plan is eligible when you purchase a product that is $99 or more.

    The first payment (including any applicable shipping and tax on the total purchase price) will be charged at the time your order is placed. Thereafter, your account will be charged the appropriate amount every month until you have reached the end of the payment plan. Our Easy Payment plan offers 0% APR and no interest charged from Rosetta Stone. You can select the Easy Payment plan option at the time of purchase.

  • How do I renew my Online Subscription?

    Follow these simple steps to renew your online subscription.

    1. Login to your Rosetta Stone online program.
    2. On the top toolbar, click on your name, and select "My Account".
    3. Make sure your billing information is updated by going to the “Billing” tab. Make any necessary updates, and click “Update”.
    4. Once you have ensured your billing information is updated, click back onto the “Manage Online Services” tab. This is where you will opt in to the auto-renewal feature. To do so, simply click "Turn Auto Renewal ON". Once completed, you’ll see the rate at which your subscription renews every month.
  • What is the 30 day, no-risk, money-back guarantee?

    If you purchase our Rosetta Stone® Personal Edition products via RosettaStone.com or by telephone, you are entitled to a no-risk, money-back guarantee. You can return the product within 30 days of purchase. Personal Edition products include Online Subscription, Instant Download, and CD-ROM products for Individuals. Our complete return policy document is also available for your review.

  • What is the return policy?

    Rosetta Stone will exchange or accept return of our Personal Edition products within 30 days of the date of purchase. Personal Edition products include Online Subscription, Instant Download, and CD-ROM products for Individuals.

    The product must be purchased directly from Rosetta Stone via Rosettastone.com or by telephone, in order to be eligible for our 30 day, money-back guarantee.

    The Rosetta Stone exchange and return policy does NOT apply to products purchased from a Rosetta Stone authorized retailer.

  • How can I submit an order with tax exempt status?

    Please contact our Enterprise and Education Sales Team and a representative will assist you with placing an order that qualifies for tax exempt status. You can call a representative at 800.811.2755, or send us an email and a representative will contact you.

  • How can I cancel automatic subscription renewal?

    To disable the automatic renewal of your online subscription, simply follow these steps.

    1. Log in to your Rosetta Stone program.
    2. On the top toolbar, click on your name, and select "My Account".
    3. The Summary tab will appear. This is where you will opt out of the auto-renewal feature. To do so, simply click "Cancel Subscription". Once completed, your subscription will not renew after the expiration date.

MOBILE APPS QUESTIONS

  • What mobile apps do you offer for language learning?

    Learn Languages: Rosetta Stone® is our popular language learning course specifically designed for on-the-go learning from your smartphone or tablet. Access to the app is included when you purchase the online subscription product.

  • How do I reset my Learn Languages: Rosetta Stone® mobile application password?

    Please follow these steps to reset your password from your mobile device:

    1. From within the mobile app, select “Sign In”. Select your Account type (Personal or Work/School).
    2. A browser will open to a sign-in page. Select “Forgot Password?” below the password field.
    3. Enter your email address.
    4. You will receive an email with instructions on how to reset your password.
    5. Enter and confirm your new password.
    6. You can now log in to the mobile app with your new password.

    If you want to reset your mobile app password from your computer, please do the following:

    1. Go the program sign-in page and click the link “Forgot your password?” immediately beneath the sign-in button.
    2. Enter your email address.
    3. You will receive an email with instructions on how to reset your password.
    4. Enter and confirm your new password.
    5. You can now log into the mobile app with your new password.
  • Does my learning progress sync between the Learn Languages app and the Online Subscription product?

    Yes, but only if you purchase a subscription from our website. In that case, your progress automatically syncs between the web browser and mobile app, allowing you to conveniently continue learning where you left off.

    This subscription purchase is not currently available when you purchase from our app store, however this option will be coming soon.

Rosetta Stone® Homeschool offers a proven method of immersion-based language learning combined with the world's best speech-recognition technology, coupled with reporting tools that empower parents to monitor progress without extensive supervision.

  • What's included in the Rosetta Stone® Homeschool program?

    The Rosetta Stone® Homeschool program is designed for both desktop and mobile devices and helps students achieve their language learning goals with our industry-leading technology and immersive methodology. Students will learn from a variety of subjects and enjoy Extended Learning features, like Phrasebook and Audio Companion™. In addition, our proprietary TruAccent® speech-recognition technology adjusts to help students improve their pronunciation skills. Parents benefit from a reporting feature that summarizes lesson status, progress, scores, and time spent on each lesson into a printer-friendly format.

  • What languages does the Rosetta Stone® Homeschool program offer?

    The Rosetta Stone® Homeschool program is currently available in 24 languages:

  • What ages or levels of education is Rosetta Stone® Homeschool program appropriate for?

    The Rosetta Stone® Homeschool program is the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers and has been used successfully with primary, secondary, and higher education students.

  • How will I be able to monitor my child's progress in the Rosetta Stone® Homeschool program?

    Rosetta Stone® Homeschool includes reporting features that follow your student’s progress and access information regarding performance. Parents can view lesson status and progress, how their child scored on each lesson, last attempt learning date on each lesson, and time spent learning with the program.

  • How much time will it take me to learn a new language with Rosetta Stone?

    The program is self-paced, and each learner is different. However, you can expect that it will take approximately 40-50 hours to complete the content in each level of the program. Individual lessons may take from 5 minutes up to 30 minutes, depending on the specific activity within the program. Even if you have only a few minutes to spare, it is easy to fit Rosetta Stone into your schedule.

  • How does the Rosetta Stone® language learning method work?

    Our language learning program teaches you based on a method of instruction called “immersion”. It introduces language skills in a way that stimulates your brain’s natural language learning ability. Rosetta Stone provides the opportunity to develop all of your language skills-- listening, speaking, reading and writing, from the beginning. The program leads you through a carefully designed sequence that helps you build the language structure step-by-step. You begin to think in your new language from the very beginning-- the same way you learned your first language.

    We are also the only language learning program that helps people improve accent-specific pronunciations through our TruAccent™ patented speech-recognition engine, along with offering access to native tutors to help build conversational confidence.

  • How are the lessons constructed?

    Rosetta Stone® Language Training is divided into units with lessons and focused activities. Core lessons will teach you your new language, while focused activities build skills and reinforce the language you've learned. There are four core lessons and a Milestone within one unit.   • What is the Extended Learning feature of the program?
    • Extended Learning includes a range of additional activities to help you on your language learning journey. Extended Learning features include:
    • Phrasebook: Easy-to-access greetings, phrases, useful expressions and more-- perfect for traveling.
    • Stories: Pick up new vocabulary by reading and listening to stories in your target language.
    • Audio Companion: Conveniently listen and learn to language lessons offline with downloadable audio lessons.
    • Games and Activities: Play games designed to exercise your language skills, on your own or with other learners. *Not available on mobile
  • What is Live Tutoring?

    Live Tutoring allows you to practice speaking your new language. These live sessions are 25 minutes long, and are led by a tutor who is a native speaker. These sessions can help you learn to speak in your new language with confidence.

    Live tutoring sessions are available at an additional cost. They are available as a product upgrade. You can visit our upgrade page to quickly and easily purchase a product upgrade.

  • How do I prepare for my Live Tutoring session?

    No special preparation is required beyond using the Rosetta Stone program, which prepares you for Live Tutoring sessions. When you attend a session, relax, speak up, and have fun!

  • What happens during the Live Tutoring sessions?

    The Live Tutoring sessions take place online, with a native tutor and up to three other learners who are at your level. The sessions are conducted in your new language, reinforcing what you learned from your Rosetta Stone lessons.

  • How do you upgrade from Version 3 to Rosetta Stone® Language Learning?

    When you upgrade, you will be able to enhance your language learning experience with features such as games and activities, Live Tutoring sessions, and our mobile app.

  • I currently have Version 2 and would like to upgrade to upgrade to Rosetta Stone® Language Learning. How do I do this?

    If you are using Rosetta Stone Version 2 and want to upgrade to the latest version of the product, please call our customer care line at 1.800.280.8172. When you place your call, select option 2. Our customer care team will be happy to help you understand and implement your upgrade options.

  • How much does it cost to upgrade?

    We offer different upgrade plans at different price points. Please go to the upgrade page to see all of the available options.

    If you are currently using our Version 2 product, please call our customer care line at 1.800.280.8172, and they will review the options with you.

  • What languages can I upgrade?

    If you have Rosetta Stone Version 3, you can upgrade any language from our upgrade page.

    If you have Rosetta Stone Version 2, you can upgrade all languages with the exception of the following: Danish, Indonesian, Pashto, Swahili, Thai, or Welsh. If you have one of these languages and wish to upgrade, you can choose a different language for your upgrade.

  • What are the system requirements for Rosetta Stone Language Learning?

    Please see the System Requirements for the full list of requirements related to your computer’s operating system and hardware.

    If you have purchased an Online Subscription product, you simply need a standard broadband Internet connection.

  • Will I be able to run this on my PC? What if I have a Mac?

    Yes. Our products are supported by computers with Windows or Mac operating systems. Please see our full System Requirements to make sure your computer system meets all the specific requirements.

  • How do I set up my headset?
  • I received an error code when using the product. What do I do?

    If you received an error code, please go to our Support Portal to run a search for the specific error code, in order to receive applicable feedback and instructions related to that particular error. When you reach the Support Portal you will go through the following simple steps:

    1. Select your Customer type (Home & Family, School or Business).
    2. Select your Product type (Online Subscription, CD-ROM, Instant Download, Mobile App, Other).
    3. Enter your error code in the search bar located directly above “Select A Product Type”.
  • How do I install the program?

    If you have the Online Subscription product, no installation is necessary.

    If you have the CD-ROM or Instant Download product, installation is required. Before installing the program, please make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements.

    Follow the steps in the installation wizard after you insert the CD-ROM, or the instructions on the Download, depending on which product you purchased.

  • How do I install a Rosetta Stone Language Learning CD-ROM on a computer with no CD drive?

    It is still possible to install the Rosetta Stone CD-ROM program on a computer, even if you do not have a CD drive. Instead of using the discs that came with your product, you’ll download the files directly to your computer and then install them. Please see our step-by-step instructions for how to do this.

  • What is Audio Companion and how can I use it?

    Audio Companion™ is an audio-only product that complements the Rosetta Stone language program. Audio Companion allows you to practice the language when you are away from your computer.

    You must have an Online Subscription or access to online features to use Audio Companion™. You can download the Audio Companion files from the Settings icon in the toolbar of your program. See complete step-by-step instructions here.

  • How do I deactivate the product?

    Please complete the following steps if you need to deactivate the Rosetta Stone product from your computer.

    1. Log in to your program.
    2. Click on the Settings icon in the Toolbar.
    3. Click on Add or Remove Languages.
    4. Click on Deactivate Products.
