great !!! however..... Most most definitly i would and will recommend rosettastone. I am having a funtastic time learning tagalog.by the way,my fiancee' is filipino. this teaching is simple, not hard at all ! However i have one small minor, it is the english pdf file to interpret what you see in the lesson. a few things in the numbering are either missing or out of place, other than that,it is still a very cool and great course to learn any languages. I'm trying, I"m 64 years old and was just an average student in school. I have 3 daughters, one is a Filipino and one is married to a Filipino. The Filipino daughter lives in Angles City. So it was time I learned to speak Tagalog. Rosetta Stone has been a life sent. I have learned to talk to my daughter and grandkids and sons-in-law. I'm not the best at it yet, but at least I now have fun talking to them and understanding them. Not having the best study habits in school has made it a little harder than it should be, but I can honestly said not only has this help me a lot, but it is also a lot of fun. Heck, I didn't study like this when I was in high school. I have and would recommend Rosetta Stone to anyone in a heart beat. April 9, 2011
confused This is the only language I have attempted using Rosetta stone software. The software is well written and the language is presented well. The biggest strength is the language pronunciation. The biggest weakness...lack of teaching grammar and also the software never translates words for you. You have to interpret the phrase based on the picture presented. So many words I don't understand, the software never clarifies and I can't find them in any book and any online search. Many of these words are frequently used and I still don't know what they mean. I have been working with this software for 2 months now, averaging about 30 - 60 minutes a night and I still can't compose a sentence and understand little what is spoken to me. I learn more from my Tagalog speaking friend in 5 minutes than I learn hours working with this software. I probably won't purchase the next edition because its too expensive and doesn't really help me all that much. I am great at repeating the phrases the software feeds me, but take that away and I can't create my own sentence and can only pick out a few words when a native speaker is speaking to me. So far it's great! I've just started using Rosetta Stone, so only gave it a four star. So far though I love it. I've always felt that I'm no good with languages even after taking some courses in high school. With Rosetta Stone I find that I'm retaining the knowledge and assimilating it well. I have real hopes that I'll finally be able to speak and understand another language. April 7, 2011
So simple to use I've taken traditional language classes when I was in High School. They used rote memorization and, compared to Rosetta Stone, weren't very effective. After purchasing Rosetta Stone and seeing how user friendly the program is, I've become convinced that it is by far the best way to learn a new language. You'll be speaking and understanding your new language in about 5 minutes; and that's including the time it takes to install the program. It's very easy to see why it has been so successfull in helping our government and military function overseas. November 18, 2010
As Advertised I cannot believe how easy and fun this program is. I always seem to have a great smile on my face when I learn a new saying, phrase or word. I have been recommending this program to everyone I know. Thank you for making learning a language fun again. March 13, 2009
Ang galing! (wonderful) The program was very unique and surprisingly effective. It focuses on building vocabulary first and rules of grammar later. Level 2 here we come! March 11, 2009
A door, re-opened! I purchased the Tagalog Rosetta Stone for my husband as a holiday gift. While born in the Philippines, he moved to the USA when he was eight, and has since lost nearly all of his Tagalog. We started the lessons together, because I would love to learn the language and better communicate with his extended family. I can't tell you what a thrill it was to watch him take the first lesson. I stopped looking at the program and just watched his face. It lit up. It was as though an old, old door was re-opened and so much of the language came back to him. It was so easy and fun to use; we so enjoy doing lessons together. As a non-Tagalog speaker, I appreciated the structure of the lessons, and how they contextualized the language, rather than simply asking me to memorize vocabulary. Thank you for designing such an incredible product. It truly is way, way more than a simple product or lesson -- it's an opportunity to connect. With other people, and in my husband's case...the past! March 11, 2009
