Outstanding learning experience I highly endorse Rosetta Stone as an effective and enjoyable way to learn a new language. The inter-active features of the program are thought provoking and motivating to the student. The course is designed to offer a high level of learning enjoyment. The material is presented in a manner which encourages the student to stay focused on wanting to continue to the next lesson. The best new language course anyone could purchase for home or business self-instruction. April 7, 2010
Puedo hablar I am very pleased with my purchase of Rosetta Stone Spanish. I took 3 years of Spanish in high school and minored in Spanish in college. I knew the vocabulary - but I couldn't speak. Rosetta Stone gets you speaking immediately. After getting through 4 of the 5 levels, I'm confident that I will be able to communicate with confidence while I'm in Argentina in March. The product is not perfect - but it is much better than anything I have ever tried. I'm a very satisfied customer. One more level to go - and then I plan to purchase Portuguese. January 16, 2010
better than tutor I have spent thousands of dollars on language tutors who did one on one teaching and stood in class in front of a dry erase board and taught i had the excitement of learning sucked away and I should have bought a new car with that money because didn't learn anything. I came back to rosetta stone since they said they have a new version, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE rosetta stone totale. It is so interactive, fun, challenging, and you actually learn. I have to admit the online studio sessions are my VERY favorite part. I can't describe how useful the online studio is. If you have purchased rosetta stone before and gave up on it i urge you to get the new Totale it is better than the older version. September 19, 2011
Excellent Learning Tool I'd taken spanish in high school and college, but never really learned anything past small words and simple phrases. What motivated me to learn spanish was my job. I'm a police officer in the metro richmond area and work in an area with a large latino population. It's trying to not be able to communicate with the victims of a crime, especially when time can be critical. Initially, I was aware of Rosetta Stone but refused to consider purchasing it because of the high cost in comparison to other personal learning language software. My parents were actually the ones to purchase the 5 level product (version 3) as a combined surprise birthday/Xmas present. Its taken me two years to complete 5 levels but I have finally finished the software package. Between the software, spanish language television, and my daily spanish language conversations with citizens while on the job; I have transformed myself from a marginal spanish speaker into a vital interpreting resource at work. My language skills have been utilized in minor motor vehicle crashes to murder investigations. In the end, this software provided me with a great base to expand my spanish language proficiency, and I would recommend anyone wary of purchasing this product because of the price to do so. 500 dollars is expensive but it's marginal in comparison to what 5 years of language college courses would cost. And of course, you can't put a price on the doors learning another language will open for you. July 24, 2011
After one year of use I just spent a year using the prior product (the one before Total e ) and I still cannot speak Spanish with confidence. I have a better understanding of simple Spanish, and I can read signs. But I cannot speak Spanish very well because I cannot conjugate the verbs on the fly. I have no problem reading on an elementary level as long as I have a dictionary and 501 Spanish Verbs handy. I learned Latin and Frence with a teacher and a lot of rote memorization of words and conjugations. the teacher also was there to explain differences in uses of words and phrases, and whether the difference is meaningful or just personal choice. I do like the program. it taught me pronunciation and taught me to differentiate between speakers, which even though I live in the southwest I have never been able to do. It also gave me something to do for about three hours every week. ( I made it to level 4 unit 3 before the subscription ran out-(my employer paid for one year online) I am contemplating purchasing the new 5 level version but even at current price, it is pricey. On the other hand, it may be better just to start the rote memorization, use the practice disks, and listen to local radio and tv raise the listiening and pronunciation skills. Overall, I think this program would be useful over two or three years in conjuntion with memorization and maybe someone around who can give you practical advice (sorry, three months free online help is not really going to do it) (my problem is I had one year to do all five levels, an that is not practical when you work full time) July 12, 2011
Useful, amazing tool! this is a fun program that makes learning a new language attainable! My experience has been great so far! much better than spanish class (sorry teachers) and easier to practice and apply to real life situations :0) May 24, 2011
Excellent Program I have thoroughly enjoyed my Rosetta Stone. I am learning so quickly through this program. I purchased 2 other program prior to buying Rosetta Stone and neither of the 2 I purchased has taught me like Rosetta Stone has. I've been working with this program for only four months and I can already hold a conversation with someone. May 19, 2011
Educators Learn to Speak to Parents As an educator, I continue to be frustrated by my inability to speak with parents of my students. I ordered Rosetta Stone to learn Spanish and I am impressed at how quickly my vocabulary and word tense has progressed. The engaging lessons keep me interested and practicing each day. April 25, 2011
Having a Blast! I have been wanting to learn a second language for newly ten years. This desire spawned out of numerous trips to other countries where my hosts would have to speak in my language in order for us to communicate. I always felt disadvantaged by only knowing my native language. Earlier this year, I made the decision to take action on my long term passion to learn another language. After much research, I decided to purchase the Rosetta Stone Totale package due to the many excellent reviews. After three months of daily use, I am absolutely having a blast learning Latin American Spanish. The Rosetta Stone approach to language learning is absolutely effective and fun. I am able to read, write, and speak more in only three months with Rosetta Stone than I was after a year in college spanish. The Rosetta World and Rosetta Studio portions of the Totale package are exciting and reinforce the principles learned during the lessons. I am absolutely convinced that my Rosetta Stone Totale package will allow me to achieve my goal of being fluent in a second language. April 21, 2011
A Winner! Rosetta Stone is great! No flash cards, no lists of conjugations. Just learn to speak the way we learned to speak English. Rosetta Stone TotalE has it all! You just have to do it! April 20, 2011
Wonderful I have found that Rosetta Stone has given me the knowledge needed to become a fluent speaker of Spanish April 19, 2011
Great Way To Learn A Language My wife purchased Rosetta Stone for me as a birthday gift after I told her that I wanted to improve my Spanish. I took Spanish throughout grade school and high school, but since that time, I haven't had much chance to practice. I also wanted to work towards the goal of becoming fluent in Spanish. I have been progressing through the sections in Level 1 as a refresher for the limited amount of Spanish I already know. The program is very easy to follow. Rosetta Stone does a good job of having you go through the material multiple times (so the information sticks), but in a variety of different ways (so you don't get bored). At the end of each unit, you are encouraged to take a Studio Session, where you are only allowed to speak the language you are learning. This sounds intimidating at first, but the native speakers are very friendly and guide you through the hour long session. There is at least one other student in the Studio Session with you, which also provides comfort, as they are at the same level in the process as you are. I really like that you can progress through the units at your own pace and that there are a variety of times that you can sign up for Studio Sessions. My schedule is pretty hectic, but I'm always able to incorporate some Rosetta Stone time into it. The one criticism I would have is that there seem to be some audio bugs. When going through the units, you wear a headset which you speak into. The Rosetta Stone program has a sound recognition system which lets you know if you are pronouncing words/phrases correctly. For whatever reason, my headset does not seem to transmit the beginning of words/phrases all that clearly. Also, there were audio problems between the native speaker and the students in my last Studio Session. Overall, the audio problems have been minor and I would definitely recommend this product to someone looking to learn a new language or brush up on one they learned in the past. April 19, 2011
Completely Effective Rosetta Stone will absolutely work for you if you follow the program. Nothing works without commitment, but if you are serious about learning a new language, I'm convinced there is no program more effective than Rosetta Stone. Just do a little each day and you'll learn quickly, finding yourself thinking in your new language in no time. April 18, 2011
Speaking Spanish with ease Rosetta Stone is a great tool that helps to bridge the language barrier! We have a plant in Costa Rica and this tool has helped me to communicate effectively with my coworkers. I would recommend this to anyone! April 18, 2011
You Can Do It! I've always wanted to learn a second language, but never thought I could devote enough time to it to be successful. Now that my children are grown and have moved out of the home, I do have more time to devote. Also, I cannot deny that I felt my age would be a factor as well. But when I learned I was going to be a first time grandmother to a bilingual grandchild, I knew now was the time to learn Spanish. The fact that you learn at your own pace is really an asset to this product. There are no timetables to meet, no classes outside of the home to attend, and no pressure with studying for tests. I do feel though, that in order to learn the language, you must make the decision to put in the time daily. I would say I devote an hour a day on the average, and am happy with my progress. I felt a little intimidated when scheduling my first on line chat session in Rosetta Studio. I completed the first Unit in Rosetta Course and scheduled the session. I felt I did fine, but went back afterwards to strengthen some of the weaknesses I felt I needed to overcome, and now feel much better after studying a bit more what I felt was lacking in my comprehension. I have been out of school for 30 years, so I needed to re-learn good studying techniques. The on-line session instructor was a very pleasant individual. I did enjoy it, although I was nervous! I feel the next session will be even better, because I now know what to expect. Constructively, one thing I feel could be improved as far as instructor feedback is when a question is asked of the student in Rosetta Studio and that answer is verified or corrected by the instructor, that the instructor SLOWLY REPEATS the correct response, as well as ask the student to repeat the correct response. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone. All the tools to be successful are incorporated in the product. Gracias! April 16, 2011
Finally, it makes sense! I took six years of Spanish classes in middle and high school. As I entered college I wanted to take more classes and hoped to test out of some of them because I had taken so many years of it. However, after not being able to score high enough on the test and having to be placed in the 1oo level course I was beyond frustrated. It was clear that even though I sat through hundreds of classes I didn't really 'get it' nor was I able to retain anything I learned despite excelling in every other academic area including law school. However, with the Rosetta Stone system I fianlly feel that I am mastering the language and will be able to retain what i'm learning. It's so wonderful to find something that worked just as well if not better then it claimed! Best investment in myself I've ever made! Thank you Rosetta Stone for my new language and increased self confidence. April 13, 2011
A Whole New World Rosetta Stone is the best decision we have made all year. I love this product. My son is already reciting words in spanish. I am picking up the language slowly but I think my son is beating me by a mile. :-) Loving our new learning experience!! April 13, 2011
It's Actually Fun! I have absolutely no complaints so far. I love how the program is designed, I like the way the lessons are intermingled between vocabulary, speaking, spelling and so forth. I love how it instinctively knows what areas I need to review. I even love the quality and self-explanatory photos. I'm a grad student so I am waiting until summer starts to begin the Total-e portion but I'm very excited to interact and speak with a live tutor also. I plan to boot camp myself through as many units as possible this summer! -Kelly S April 12, 2011
It works if you do. The program definitely works and the “return your money policy” is a big plus. BUT it requires the student to work and like anything else it is easy to get started but much harder to stay on it. I consider myself to be a very average language learner but after a month or so I am begging to translate sentences, as opposed to words and definitely not asking for my money back. The Rosetta approach is not to give you English translations but I find by using the google translator, I can make my own list of words. The hardest part for me is the writing exercises, simply because I cannot spell in English and I have found that I can write the correct answers on a separate sheet, and then return to the exercise. I have no illusions about becoming fully literate in Spanish but when we finally immerse ourselves in a Spanish community, I think the course will really pay off. If you are looking for a quick fix----save your money but of the 3 other courses I have used, this one is far the best. April 12, 2011
Best Language Software Have learned Spanish more quickly with Rosetta Stone than any other book or program. Thanks April 12, 2011
Flexibility! and it STICKS! I work 40+ hours a week and im a fulltime college student on my own at the age of 19, i bought rosetta stone to learn spanish to help futher me in my career choice. I took spanish class in highschool but it was very hard for me to learn in that enviroment, i felt like it was being shoved down my throat and i was only focused on passing the class, and not learning the language, but with rosetta stone i can take my time and so far everything has stuck with me so far, im very amazed on how well it works. If my buddies werent so broke i would recommend this program to them! GRACIAS! April 12, 2011
Excellent Rosetta Stone is an excellent program for anyone who needs or wants to learn a new language, but doesn't have time or money for a class. Although the program is expensive, it's worth every penny in the end because of its overall value; and is still less expensive than any college class. I am a high school Spanish student and have loved speaking and learning ever since I began Spanish I, but I wanted to have more intensive learning at home so I could become fluent more quickly. I tried other knock-off language learning programs before I broke down and purchased Rosetta Stone, but they were no comparison. Other programs simply force you to memorize words and phrases, but fail to teach you how to create your own sentences and express your own ideas; one would not, in reality, be able to live in a foreign country while only being able to say a list of phrases like "Where is the bank?" but having no idea how to make real conversation or solve real problems. The best thing about Rosetta Stone is "Rosetta World," where you can interact with native speakers of the language you're trying to learn while they're trying to learn your language; that's the only real way to become confident in your speaking. The staff at Rosetta Stone is excellent and the native tutors are welcoming, and make you feel comfortable. I was incredibly nervous about starting my first live session, but in a few minutes I didn't want it to end, and the fifty minute sessions always end up feeling like two. Invest in Rosetta Stone if you're serious about learning your new language; it's not an investment in a computer program, but an investment in yourself. April 11, 2011
Five Star Review for Spanish (Latin America) Spanish (Latin America) Level 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 is the quintessence of teaching and learning about a new culture, tradition & langauge. The program is highly interactive, non-static, fluid, and engaging - and helps the learner to feel included in a supportive community that values learning. Also, no easy task, Spanish (Latin America) Level 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 is motivational and fun. This program receives my highest endorsement and I recommend RosettaStone to anyone that is curious about learning a new language and willing to make a minimal daily committment to making learning fun. hola! adios! i think this is a very smart product. the units are manageable and clearly build upon one another. it's both interesting and fun to see, hear and feel (in your brain) the learning taking place. April 11, 2011
LOVE THIS PRODUCT I took Spanish in middle and high school and I've learned more in the past 3 and a half weeks than all those years combined. The learning method is great. Its easy to operate and you start learning and retaining the information right away. I think I've become addicted. I have to force myself to stop and do my house work. This program gives me confidence and I will without a doubt be totally fluent by the end of the program. April 10, 2011
So far so good I have been using the product for about 2 months now. I have already started to learn the language and look forward to using it more and more as I get better. The online access is great and am looking forward to talking with others online once I am more seasoned. I would definitely recommend this to a friend as it is very thorough and really does work. April 10, 2011
Latin America I have taken Spanish courses, I appreciate how this helps me with sight and sound, I am interested to watch the evolvement of my understanding of the language. I have been very impressed so far April 10, 2011
Great Purchase This is the best program ever. I've tried several others in the past and they don't compare. I think finally I will be able to speak another language. April 10, 2011
The Best So Far I have attempted to learn the Spanish language for years through formal classes and books. I have learned more over the past month with the Rosetta Stone program than ever before. Thank you for helping me become bi-lingual! April 10, 2011
Rosetta Stone goes beyond other I am fluent in French, so have had a lot of experience with trying to master language skills so that I could converse easily in a foreign language. I bought Rosetta Stone to review conversational Spanish skills I learned 40 years ago and here and there since there from self-taught programs for travelers and a 2-week language program in Guatemala. The Rosetta program goes considerably beyond either of these methods in the systematic way it presents incremental learning tasks, for its comprehensiveness, and the convenience of learning at one's own pace at home over an extended period of time. The repetition of language elements along with the visual cues have enhanced my retention of vocabulary. The biggest advantage for me is the care given to pronunciation, especially the feedback telling the learner when a word is wrongly pronounced. April 10, 2011
