How Rosetta Stone helped me I love the sound of the Spanish Language and always wondered how I would ever go about learning the language. While sitting in an aeroport I saw a woman promoting the Rosetta Stone method of learning a language. I was intrigued! It seemed like a totally functional and awesome way to grasp a second language, using lots of visual as well as audio teaching in the comfort of your own home. With all the fun colors, believable pictures, and easily understood audio, how could I go wrong. Well, I did what my gut told me to do, and ordered all 3 versions. I completed the 3 versions in 6 months averaging about one hour a day. Walking back and forth to work became so enjoyable as I was able to use that time to practice the audio lessons. The Rosetta Stone Method of learning a second language allowed me to quickly grasp the basics, feel confident in my pronunciation of words using a foreign language, and loose the intimidation that often accompanies trying a new language. It was totally worth the investment. It easily could have cost much more had I chosen to take an evening course or two, chancing positive interaction with the other students, requiring the need to purchase text books that you never use again. I am so happy that I made the decision to give Rosetta Stone a chance. I will never look back, and highly recommend this method of learning a new language. July 17, 2009
natural I had taken two years of spanish in highschool but what i learned never would stick with me. Rosetta Stone really encouages you to use what you're learning right away. I love how you can chat with people who are learning the same languge with you. I also like the professional teachers who know the language and are ready to assist you in becoming fluent in you new language. Leaning though the fully interactive lessons is fun a practical which makes remebering almost effortless. This is the most natural and effective way to learn a new language I've ever experrienced. I hope I can remember this stuff I wanted to learn Spanish because I have an opportunity through my church to help families who don't know much English. The lessons are very easy to follow and I'm loving the fact that I can hit the play button over and over again to listen to a sentence. My greatest difficulty has been in comprehending what I hear. I need a way to pull all the words that I've learned together into a single location so I can keep my memory refreshed. I forget so quickly. November 29, 2012
No positive results to date I purchased this program for my 2 Grandkids who are in their first year of Spanish in school and when they came over for Thanksgiving, and I would ask them about different items (shoes, animals, colors, etc) and to tell me what they were in Spanish, neither could answer me 7 times out of 10. They are both in separate houses and I don't have control over their using the system on a daily basis, so for the time being I cannot recommend it to anyone unless the parent is willing to stay on their back and use it. I am giving them until the New Year to show me the program is working for them and then I will make my decision about returning it. November 28, 2012
too many updates Its a good tool but you cant just use it. It makes you download updates for up to 30 minutes almost every time you go to use the program November 17, 2012
Not Sure Where this is Going I realize that I have only been using this for about 6 hours, but I am a little confused. I am now into sentence structure, but there has been no instruction given as to the words being used. Not sure the meaning, past or present tense or anything else for that matter. I guess you are supposed to figure this out by looking at the pictures. With they sent a Spanish-English dictionary for reference. I am going to try and stick this out, but getting frustrated. I hope at the end I will be able to say that I didn't was my money. I will by writing another review later on. June 23, 2012
Useful Tool Rosetta Stone has been a worth while purchase. In terms of learning vocabulary and spelling, Rosetta will enable you to excel. When it comes to speaking and becoming fluent, you need a little self motivation. Rosetta stone doesn't necessarily teach you how to create sentences, and if you haven't had some background with a "romantic" foreign language and conjugating words, you may be a little confused as to why or when you use certain words. This is cheaper than school though and far more convenient. April 13, 2011
still learning i have been on rosetta stone for a little while but i have learned more words and phases then i can ever remember in other attempts to learn spanish. thank you so far it's worth the money paco April 12, 2011
The product is user friendly. However after learning two other language with the vocabulary memorization and syntax, I anxiously await the vocabulary and syntax screen to appear. But I am slowly unlearning old habits. April 11, 2011
Smart Deal I love Rosetta Stone. Its simple and easy to follow. I am learning quickly and with ease. I can't wait to try more languages. Great tool I would recommend for everyone. April 11, 2011
Language Shopping I have tried a variety of self help language programs including a College course. I love the visual learning aspect of the rosetta stone program. You can jump right in and you are off an running. The interactive games make, for me, the learning process fun. I think if you enjoy what you are doing and it does not become a task you are more apt to do it. Thanks for a fun way to learn a language! April 11, 2011
good product Good product although a little pricey. I'm finding that I'm picking up the language although a little explanation in English or help button may be helpful. I'm struggling with the pronoun grammar (his, hers, my, their, etc) and some clarification would help. In places I'm finding that I'm guessing rather than learning. Otherwise I'm enjoying the lessons and games. I haven't gotten far enough for the stories or chat rooms. April 9, 2011
Has it all! Rosetta demonstrates the latest in language learning research. I know because I am a recent university graduate with specific reading and language area education. I am a teacher. My Spanish programs really have it all with phonics, engaging graded, varied, interesting repeating language practices, immediate application practices, immediate feedback and corrections. This carefully crafted product makes for smooth, sustained and expanding language development. April 9, 2011
A great teacher Rosetta Stone has given me the push I needed to learn Spanish. I could never grasp it in a classroom and never wanted to try but I actually feel like I could really learn it this way. I'm finally grasping things I never did before and I'm enjoying doing it. April 8, 2011
wow what fun! i've only just begun learning spanish with rosetta stone but i feel for the first time i am truly learning the language. the program is relatively easy to understand. my memory isn't so great so i repeat the lessons and i can tell it's sinking in. the lessons are somewhat addicting! it actually is a lot of fun and i recommended my friend to purchase the programs as she is working in latin america. i would recommend rosetta stone to anyone looking to learn a language. Studio Sessions are Fun I've had my 3rd Studio Session and the first time I was terrified, not knowing what to expect. The second time was more enjoyable and my third time was really fun. Each time I participate I learn a lot, because it's not just a review of the exact material you've studied, they take it to a higher level and it's a challenge that's stimulating and exciting. Almost perfect I'm really happy with the program. it really teaches - and i remember what i learnt. i'm not sure if this will get better, as i'm only up to level 2, but i definitely cannot spontaneously ask or answer a question when "under the gun." i feel like if i have time to read and listen to what is presented then i can understand and respond, but there is no way that i can integrate it in a real life conversation at this time. Beyond Words Rosetta Stone is truly beyond words. Learning Spanish is not only fun but I never have to try to "learn" the language, it just happens. Using pictures to represent the spoken word evidently makes some kind of special connection in the brain. The new words and phrases just "stick". I have had times when I wouldn't open the software for a month and still remembered what I learned in my last session. I also feel confident in using the language or teaching others what I have learned. I recently traveled to the Germany and found a curiosity about their language. I am told it is very difficult to learn. Using Rosetta Stone I am positive that it would not be difficult and highly achievable. The German language is next on my list to learn, using Rosetta Stone of course. I've always wanted to try this software and now that I have I love it and would recommend it to everyone. It is truly Beyond Words! April 7, 2011
Life past passion Haing learned and studied Japanes when I was in the Marine Coprs in Japan over forty years ago, I wished to refresh my learning again of this language. However many courses over the years failed to meet my expectation and was unable to pratice with the experience needed. ROSETA offer the experience, the face to face exposure, and the review I have never seen so well done before.l Rosetta Stone is for yung, middle age, and yes, older people to enhance their laungage skills beyond all other on the market. An Absolutely Stellar Program! Rosetta Stone is a truly stellar program with a unique and, in my own experience, extremely effective approach to language education. Perhaps the most notable and attractive quality of Rosetta Stone is that one does not feel that they are being educated at all in the sense of being inundated with stuffy grammatical rules and tedious exercises. Rather, one enjoys an utterly immersive experience as they would a game and, in this positive mindset, can learn at an extremely rapid pace. The program maintains this momentum with a very rewarding and encouraging system of positive reinforcement. Moreover, the support team at Rosetta Stone is nothing short of incredible. The courtesy, as well as the ability and eagerness to assist in whatever way a customer might need has really amazed me. They are truly here for us and one feels that they're entering into a supportive learning environment from the very beginning. The online community is an essential component of the Rosetta Stone package. After a few weeks of using the program I was already chatting away with fellow users from Colombia, Peru, Mexico, and other Spanish speaking countries. I can't quite express how gratifying an experience this has been! Furthermore, I feel that, thanks to Rosetta Stone, Latin America is now open to me to explore and admire. Have no doubt; this is a phenomenal program and, if you put in the time, you will meet your goals. Adios! April 7, 2011
Excellent It really works. It takes work on the student's part but the system is well thought out. I like the way it is set up for the computer and CD's for the car. There is even and app for my IPOD. April 7, 2011
We LOVE It!!!! We purchased Rosetta Stone in Feb we are totally addicted!!! Not a day goes by that we don't make time to do a lesson. Even our 7 yr old daughter is doing it with us and doing very well. We Love It!!! Thanks SOOOOOO Much Rosetta!!!! April 7, 2011
What fun! My kids are having a blast "playing the Spanish game!" I like the self paced study and the ability to always go back to re-examine and practice. April 7, 2011
second to none i have used other software for learning new languages , busuu, total emersion, ect and none of them have given me the fast results that rosetta stone has. I will continue to be a loyal customer and am planning on purchasing another language by the end of the year. April 7, 2011
Great Program I have tried and few different Spanish courses and like Rosetta Stone the best. I took a class at night in college and tried other programs online. I like the way you can go back and take the lesson over again. I was nervous to do the live tutoring, but after doing one, I really liked it and learned much more. It gives you lots of ways to learn the language. April 7, 2011
Didn't work for me. This program is definitely for those that are right-brain dominant. For those of us that are more analytical or logically minded this program doesn’t work. The way the program works it is very easy through a logical process of elimination to get through the program successfully. However, you don’t learn the language; at best you learn some words. conversation I have enjoyed learning with Levels 1, 2 and 3. As an older learner I have found that I needed to do Levels 2 and 3 over and over. I would like to see ALL of the conversations shown/spoken in the visual component be part of the CD sets, because this would help with the conjugation of verbs and cue the listener to the idiomatic nuances of the language. Getting started quickly I bought Rosetta Stone because my partner's first language is Spanish, and I'd like to learn so that I can enjoy travelling with him. I'm only just getting started, but I'm really pleased with how gently new concepts are introduced. I've almost finished the first unit, and I feel like I've already learned quite a lot. I've never felt out of my depth. I'm enjoying it a lot, and every day I look forward to spending an hour or so with it after work. The iPhone app and the audio lessons let me practice and revise during idle moments of the day. I feel confident that I'll be able to have basic conversations within weeks. January 11, 2011
Loving it! I purchased Spanish (Latin America) Level 1-3. I have been using Rosetta Stone for a while now, I am in the fourth section of Level 1. My dad is bilingual and speaks Spanish and English. I had learned some Spanish from him, but my learning was always very choppy. Starting Rosetta Stone, I was rather bored, as I knew a lot of the vocab that was taught to me. But soon I started learning new words and new ways to speak. I really, really enjoy this product, and use it whenever I can. One thing that kept me from giving five stars was the lack of an English translation. For some of the more complicated grammar rules, it is necessary to have an explanation. Luckily, I have my father for this. I suggest purchasing a book on Spanish grammar to pair with this so as to receive a more thorough learning experience. Overall, I recommend this product more then other learning methods, and will be purchasing Level 4 & 5 soon! December 13, 2010
This program is fantastic! I had been trying to learn Spanish for the last couple of months with little to show for it. Finally, I decided just to spend the money and buy the Rosetta Stone program, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The program itself is ingenious; it introduces concepts just at the right moment so that you are able to comprehend the subtle complexities in vocabulary and grammar. The Iphone app allows me to practice Spanish at work or when I'm away from home, and the audio companion really helps with hearing the language. I couldn't be happier with how much I've learned. It's only been a month but already I can pick up what is going on when I watch Spanish tv or hear two people speaking. It's awesome! I highly recommend this program to anyone who really wants to start learning a language. November 19, 2010
