A kiss for a job well done! Learning with Rosetta Stone has been life enriching! My fiance' is from Ecuador and we are getting ready to go there to visit his family. In a desperate rush to learn Spanish I ordered Rosetta Stone. Little did I know that I had stumbled upon a gem! Since I opened the box, every lesson has felt like a game. The challenges are masked so well that I hadn't noticed how much I was learning. I asked my fiance' if he would cook rice for dinner in Spanish and the look on his face was amazing! Quickly followed up with kiss, I think he fell in love with me all over again. :D Thank you Rosetta Stone! I can't wait to try out some more Spanish in Ecuador! December 2, 2012
Excellent! I have been using Rosetta Stone for 1 month. The software is easy to use, and the voice actors speak slowly and clearly enough that learning how to speak the language is facilitated. The program uses several "core" vocabulary words multiple times in order to teach different tenses of verbs, etc. Even without an "answer key," it is not very difficult to determine the translation of the Spanish words, due to the obvious situations portrayed in the photographs. The program is repetitive, but not to the point that it is frustrating. For me, the repetition is very helpful in remembering what I learned the night before. I can already understand my Spanish-speaking patients a little better, and I am only just scratching the surface of the first volume. If you have an app that can translate words on your smartphone, or a friend who speaks Spanish, you can take the lessons learned from Rosetta Stone and put them into practice, which has accelerated the learning curve for me. In summary, I think this is a great product. November 30, 2012
Somewhat disappointing I purchased this hoping that I could learn Spanish quickly and I had taken Spanish in high school. I find the program very repetitive going over the same words and phrases many times. I have also had a problem figuring out what it wanted me to say or enter. I have learned alot of new words that I was not familiar before. I also must admit that I have not always used the program every night and I would have remembering word I should have learned. satisfied Great product can't wait to start speaking Spanish November 28, 2012
Easy to learn I really enjoy learning through Rosetta Stone. Although I do not utilize the training as often as I would like, due to work issues, I am able to pick right back up where I left off and I am fully able to retain everything I learned in the previous session. I highly recommend Rosetta Stone November 28, 2012
Very Enjpyable I got unit 1 (Latin American Spanish) six weeks before I went to Mexico. Finished the course before I left. I was able to greet people, buy things in stores and order in restaurants. The response from the people, even with my very limited vocabulary, was very positive. I will be getting more units before I go back. Everyone who asks me I tell them that Rosetta Stone is well worth the time and effort. November 28, 2012
I think Rosetta Stone is a wonderful program. It really helps you learn another language! Everything about it is perfect, the only problem is finding time to actually do the program. November 28, 2012
Old dog can learn a new trick I have not wanted to attemp the learning of a new language because of every excuse anyone could think of. With Rosetta Stone it is easy and not as time consuming as I expected. November 28, 2012
Great Tool! I just got Rosetta Stone level 1 for Spanish yesterday! Although RS isn't as easy as it is portrayed, it is still a great tool and a wonderful investment. I plan to purchase the rest of the Spanish set when I have completed level 1! I have to say, the way that this software is designed is brilliant, however I wish there was a "cheat sheet" of sorts so that I could review topics from a previous lesson. The software could use improvement. Another thing I really like is the speech recognition on RS, the dynamic immersion thrown in with the games and other fun activities makes Rosetta Stone an incredibly enjoyable experience. I plan to purchase RS for Korean after I am finished with Spanish! Gracias Rosetta Stone! April 28, 2012
Rosetta for spanish This is a bad way to learn spanish.I have purchased the newest version TOTALe for spanish which cost almost 400 dollars US.You see photos after the software tells you something and you are asked to pick from about 3 photos to match whatever is being said in spanish about that photo. The problem as you go along with the program is that it adds new words to sentance fragments. You might know BLANCO which means white and out of 3 or 4 photos there is a white car or horse so you pick that but the other 3 words in the sentance or sentance fragment you've never seen in your life,so you have no idea what they mean and rosetta stone never tells you.You are picking correct answers from 1 word out of 3 or 5 words.Ive been studying this for a year and I cant say a sentance in spanish. Now you get to sections of TOTALe where you wear headphones and a mic because you must repeat something thats being said in spanish.Sometimes not even whole words but parts of a single word like BO.How hard is it to say BO?You can say it 30 times and it wont say you got it right. My wife is Colombian and at the time Im typing this she's been in the US for 11 years. Her accent is very strong and english is her second language, spanish is her first so I have her try the part where you must speak into the computer ,nope, she could say the same word or word part with a spanish accent because hers is just as strong as the people speaking to you on rosetta stone but it still wouldnt tell her she got it right in a few tries.I dont know any other program to learn spanish and Im not pushing another system but rosetta stone is almost USELESS. not for me I was very excited when I first began the program. I deal with a lot of Spanish speaking calls at work and hoped to be able to understand what the caller was saying. I tried pronouncing the words correctly however I guess I could not roll my r's the correct way and everytime I repeated the words in the microphoned headset I kept getting dinged. I would try again, and again the ding. The ding sound is annoying. I couldn't get pass one section because of my pronunciation of words. I finally became frustrated and just dropped the program. Gracias! I have been using Rosetta Stone for only 1 day now and I have learned so much already. I learned the different tenses, new words, and even words that were a review from school spanish lessons. Thank you so much Rosetta Stone!!! December 29, 2011
Success at Last! I have a paralyzed vocal chord and in the past have not been able to pronounce many of the sounds required to speak understandable Spanish. Rosetta Stone's method has taught me how to breathe differently to make many of the sounds in the back of my throat that I previously could not make!!! Thank you Rosetta Stone! May 25, 2011
AWESOME!!! I have tried to learn Spanish by memorization and the like, but I always found myself having to translate to English in my head. With RS, the words just come to me. Best product by far for learning a new language. April 24, 2011
Maybe it works but it leaves a lot to be desired I guess you will be speaking in days. Not that you'll be able to say anything worth while. Or understand much of anything. But yes after your first lesson you will be able to say Hi. Not much more. And after 3 months spending an hour a day you still won't be saying much. The interface is very very slow and I am on a fast computer. The voice recognition is maddening. You will be told you are incorrect. You repeat the word exactly and you are told it was correct. There is a slow speach version that sometimes works. It is supposed to create a graph which it usually, but not always, does. Then on playback you match exactly and are still wrong. Or in slow version you get it perfect and when you go back to normal version you are incorrect again. I guess help exists. Somewhere. Good luck finding it. Try finding out more about the 6 month guarantee and that will give you an idea how the software is designed. Good luck. Some of the choices for speaking are insane. In later units you are saying Hi. There is one section where you have to hay Hi six times in a row. And this is a later lession. This is something from the first lesson. It shouldn't be repeated six times in a later lesson. The online interaction is a complete and total joke. They make it sound like there are lots of people to interact with and lots of activities. Normally there is NO ONE online. The most I've seen is 4. And there are maybe 4 activities that are way to advanced for units 1 or 2. Maybe there is more to the online sections but I surely haven't found anything. Once again poorly designed help and interfaces... And the instal will be painful. I guess I'm learning the language. BUT IT IS NOT NEARLY AS EASY AS THEM MAKE IT SOUND!!! Yes I'm learning. Yes I would recommend this product once I explain all the issues. But it sure isn't even close to as good as advertised. April 21, 2011
What a great investment. Best investment in myself I made all year. You can take it with you anywhere on mobile devices. The best language learning system I have ever used. April 18, 2011
I was able to figure out how to use the program without calling for help. I learned the words OK but had trouble with the voice recognition software recongizing some of my responses. It was not always consistent. I learned a lot but never felt confident to talk to a native on line speaker. I wish the lesson speakers would speak a little slower so I could hear all of the sounds. We found this product to be everything they said it to be in their advertisemnt. It's good in this day and time to have a product that is as easy to use and works exactly as it is claimed in it's advertisemnt! April 18, 2011
Impressed I am impressed with Rosetta Stone. I took four years of Spanish in high school but never felt like I had a good grasp on listening or speaking the language. I could read and write it at an adequate level but nothing more. I find the way Rosetta Stone goes about teaching new languages encouraging. It does not try to teach you using the language(s) you already know. Instead, it shows you a picture and tells you the word or phrase in the language you are learning. I think this is a very effective way to teach someone a new language. The only thing holding me back is myself. I struggle to put the time into it. However, I am working at it, little by little. I plan to buy the remaining levels for Spanish in the future. April 17, 2011
Never though I could do it. I have a blast with the course. I am old but not dead. I want to keep living life to its fullest and learning a new language is a way to stay young and alive. I was amazed at how easy it is to learn. I have only started but I can't wait to get to the next lesson. April 16, 2011
Not as Easy as Alleged Based on the advertisements, I naively assumed that the program would give me a course in the basics of the new language and proceed from there; however, I immediately found that the program began presenting words and combinations of words that I had no idea what they meant and how they went together as a sentence. I found that I could repeat the words and connect at least one of them to the associated picture but did not understand how all of the words were used in a typical conversation sentence. Realizing that I may not be the most gifted language learner I asked a neighbor who speaks Spanish fluently to look at the program. His opinion was that the program needed to start with more fundamental basic words and provide some basic structure training than just diving into it. He felt that it was a good program and given enough time and effort a person could master the basics and the more difficult parts. I marked that I would recommend this program to a friend because I believe that it does have some merit but feel that there needs to be a more basic approach available for those like me that need additional help and direction. spanish its fun and makes you learn instead of just teaching you. April 10, 2011
Best Ever! I have studied languages since I was in high school. German, French, Spanish, Greek and Latin were those I have studied so far. When I wanted to review my Spanish, I chose Rosetta Stone because of their advertising. I chose the least expensive program just to test it! Let me tell you, this is the best language method I have ever used. I've progressed faster and retained more through Rosetta Stone than ever before! I've already recommended it to several friends. I'm going to continue with the full Spanish course and then choose French and German next. After that, who knows! Thank you Rosetta Stone! April 10, 2011
The shrinking course! I love the way the Rosetta stone presents its Language skills program. I feel this is the absolute best way for anyone to acquire a new language. THe only problem I have encountered is that I can not go back and review as many times as I would like. I am almost 65 and a caregiver. This, along with working, makes it very difficult to squeeze in enough time to practice. I have noted that when I went to review the program would no longer allow me to go back and review the first lesson. I, also understand that there is a short time limit on the disk. It will not allow me to take as much time as I need to go back and review over and over again and again. It is my understanding that the program will not continue beyone (in my case) May of this year. Wish the company would realize that once you have reached my age and have spent that much money, I need the time to review and absorb (and reabsorb) the material several times. April 9, 2011
Spanish Excellence It took about 30 minutes to start speaking basic spanish. The more time I spent with the program, the easier it became to put small sentences together. My comprehension of spanish has increased 10 fold in a very short period of time. I recommend RosettaStone to anyone who needs to learn another language. April 9, 2011
Love it! We purchased the Rosetta Stone for our son who will be taking Spanish in high school next year. We hoped to give him a jump-start. After reviewing the program, my husband and I both decided to use it. It is easy and a lot of fun. It can be a little over-whelming at times, too. But we have found that if we just stay with it, it comes to us. I am sure we will purchase more levels as we progress. April 8, 2011
So Glad I Finally let Rosetta into my Life I tried for years NOT to succumb to Rosetta Stone marketing. After all, it was just going to be a total waste of money -- BUT NO!! The good news is, I'm sorry I waited so long. I'm learning Spanish so fast and in such a friendly environment. And the experience is so much more enhanced with their new TOTALe experience: Games, stories to read, native speakers to interact with! Now I can progress even faster. AND, you can go to their online Rosetta Studio and schedule practice sessions with others who are learning the same language at the same level. But you're not on your own there - Rosetta provides a native speaker to help along the way. I wasted so much money over the years buying other products to try to learn Spanish (CD's, books, mp3's, other courses, the list is long). So, my advice - Give in already. You will save lots of money and time. Best of luck, "lovethatRosettaStone" April 8, 2011
2nd Language learned with Rosetta Stone My daughter has used Rosetta Stone as part of her home school classes. She learned a lot of French when using these courses. Now, she is learning Spanish with this course and it is wonderful. I am fluent in Spanish so I can judge the quality of the program. I would recommend this program to anyone. It is well worth the money. Sharon April 8, 2011
Love it This program is extremely fun, effective and efficient. I have learned a great deal of spanish in a short time. It also stays in my brain! April 8, 2011
Well designed and well supported I've had a great time using this program and see improvement every day. But just as importantly, the customer service has been stellar! They answered my questions promptly and accurately. I feel assured I'm in the hands of professionals. April 8, 2011
