Great Program
I thought this program would require a greater effort, but after 3 weeks of using it I've realized the program is designed in a way you learn without the normal stress of learning a language, great program!

My Portuguese Experience
I have only started my second Lesson (Unit 2) of Portuguese (Brazil), but have seen my learning speed increase exponentially. I love Portuguese and have wanted to learn the language recreationally for months. The techniques and repetitions of Rosetta Stone have opened my eyes to a new style if learning. I highly reccommend using Rosetta Stone to anyone who wants to learn a new language. I will be purchasing more languages from Rosetta Stone once I have completed the Portuguese (Brazil) lesson. Thanks Rosetta Stone!!

Amazing Product
At first I was a little worried about learning another language, especially in a non-classroom setting. I was afraid I wouldn't retain any of the knowledge because I wasn't being forced to do homework, or attend a class on a regular basis.
After 1 week with Rosetta Stone, it finally hit me - i was ACTUALLY learning a new language! Not only was I remembering each lesson, but I felt comfortable with what I was learning. Three months later, I'm still thrilled with what I've learned so far and I look forward to every lesson.

Very good tool for asian
I am a Mandarin Chinese native speaker, and I have no experience of European languages AT ALL. But this tool really helps me get familiar of the pronunciation of Portuguese in a very natural way. Most important, Rosetta Stone brings lots of fun and interactions of learning languages. I am so happy to spend 10~30 mins to practice it everyday. As long as I enjoy learning it, I am willing to spend time to practice it. And I believe there is no shortcut for learning a language, only the cliche 'Practice makes perfect'.

I've used Rosetta Stone for Italian and Portuguese. Using Rosetta Stone made me much more comfortable with speaking the language. I have always been comfortable with the grammar and reading of languages but lacked the confidence to go and speak. After just a couple weeks of using Rosetta Stone, i found myself speaking without needing to stop and think about every word. Even though sometimes Rosetta Stone can seem slow and tedious it really works. The first time I used Rosetta Stone was learning Italian, I was living in Ticino, the Italian speaking canton of Switzerland. I had taken some basic Italian classes so i could have basic understanding, but i really couldn't have a conversation. I knew Rosetta Stone worked when after 2-3 weeks going through the lessons i was in line at the grocery store and the woman behind me asked me a question, without hesitation I started talking to her in Italian. There were no 'ummms', long pauses or confused looks, I answered her question chatted for a minute before I paid for my groceries. As I was walking home I realized I had just had my first conversations in Italian and didn't even realize it, it had just flowed.

Having fun
I have enjoyed the program. I can go fast or slow. I love been able to review the lessons. I was surprised with the voice matching to I could work on my pitch for each word.
Well worth the price and time.

Learning was never so FUN!
I wanted to learn Portuguese, but was always tentative to buy a computer-based program like Rosetta... I don't know why I waited so long! Rosetta Stone has proven very effective in expanding my knowledge of the language, and I can even chat with native speakers!! I am even able to use it at work! All said, I cannot recommend this program enough! Thanks Rosetta!

The best foreign language solution
I purchased Rosetta Stone two months before my first trip to Sao Paulo (Brazil) and invested just about one hour per day at my PC and used the Audio CDs and iPhone companion any time I drove to and from the office. The investment made a huge difference in my business trip. I highly recommend Rosetta Stone as an easy and intuitive way to learn any language. It can't get any easier than that!

Exceptionaly Impressive Program
This proram makes it extremely easy to learn a new language. I was shocked to see how easy it was to learn new words in a new language. Especially impresive was how verbs were integrated at the very beginning of the program. Hearing, reading and writing are all integrated as soon as you begin the program. That makes Totale far and away the best language program out there.

Good job!
I really like the way that the program gives you three ways to learn all the time: seeing photos, seeing words in writing, and hearing the language. I have also found that all the teachers in the studio sessions are excellent.
My only suggestion for improvement is to have more advanced listening games (perhaps current events readings with text that we can read to boost vocabulary), and more advanced levels for the Brazilian Portuguese.

Learning Portuguese
I recently starting practicing capoeira (a brazilian martial art) and found myself immersed in Brazilian culture and the Portuguese language. Already knowing Spanish is a great help in learning Portuguese. As a language teacher myself, I can say that the setup of Rosetta Stone is extremely helpful in learning language. Including reading, writing, speaking and listening sections (although, I love the writing sections...there are very few) Also, review activities allow for continued practice and reinforcement. I LOVE the addition of interacting with native speakers in Rosetta Studio. You are in a small class of 1-4 students with a native speaker of Portuguese for 50 mins! It's a great opportunity to practice what you've learned and the activities are always right at your level. However, the Rosetta World section is a little disappointing because there are rarely people to play with in Duo mode and I have NEVER seen anyone in Simbio mode.
Overall-it's a great product. I am currently in Level 2 of Portuguese and I can tell that my comprehension of spoken Portuguese is already getting better. I can even say a few things in conversation with my new friends in capoeira!

My quest
I'm in love with South America. I have visited Peru and Argentina, and the next country on my agenda is Brazil. I know from past experience that the ability to speak just basic words in the country that one's visit means much to the native country folks. They feel somewhat motivated if not obligated to help if you can say in their native language "good morning, or good evening, and/ or please".
Wanting the goodwill of the country folks prompted me to purchase R.S.
So I'm well on my way to learning Brazillian Portuguese, which I understand is different from European Portuguese.
It is not easy, so what I do is take my time, and keep on repeating what I'm learning. At work there is a native Portuguese with whom I practice what I learn. He sometimes laughs at my enunication and he sometimes offers tips, and when he sees me he greets me in Portuguese, but he is always wanting to help. Which goes back to what I say, try, and you shall receive.
So my quest continues, to learn this fascinating language and to visit this fascinating country. And to speak what I have learned, and maybe, develop some lifetime friendships.
Maybe at the end of this journey, the real reward is that I can continue to develop as a person, and that learning does not stop at the age of 64. It does energize me to learn.

Good Product
Going to a trade-show soon and this is definitely a good bet to get some lessons in on my Portuguese before going!

So glad I finally did it!
My Brazilian Fiance and I have been together for 5 years, and although I can understand a lot of it thanks to my Spanish Language backround, I have trouble and lack of confidence speaking Portuguese. I am SO GLAD I finally bought the 3-series. I was able to speak to his family at our wedding and we even honeymooned in Portugal, which although it's different, helped tremendously. As a visual learner, this program is perfect. DON'T WAIT!

Portuguese (Brazilian)
I have been doing the Rosetta Stone in Portuguese (Brazil) for the last month and a half every day. I am confident now that I could visit Brazil and get along just fine. The stories and games with the TotalE package really help. My friend's parents are flying in from Brazil this week and I look forward to speaking with them. Although the Dad is fluent in English, the mother hardly speaks any at all. Since beginning the Rosetta Stone I have gone on Brazilian websites just to read. I would say most of the time I can get the gist of what they are saying.

Best learning system
I am enjoying Rosetta Stone so much that I look forward to the next lesson every day.
It is a logical and easy way to learn a different language and, to be honest, I think is the best self-study method in the market.
Congratulations!

best investment I ever made
We as family are getting so much from rosetta stone. I would strongly recommend this product for young children also.

From an educator's perspective
I was introduced to this program through work. I teach middle school English, and we use the English program with our English language learners. After playing with the program at school and having used other programs to learn other languages, I decided to give Rosetta Stone a try. I am delighted with the results so far. True, I am still in the honey moon phase, but when I play with the program (and it really is like play), I don't want to stop.

Brazilian Portuguese
I was very skeptical about using an automated product to try to learn a new language based on my past experience with other language learning products. Although, I have been pleasantly surprised how well this program works in comparison to other programs I have tried in the past. My retention rate with this software is 10 times greater than it has ever been, prior to using Rosetta Stone. I will finally be able to communicate with my in-laws! Thank you Rosetta!

IT OPENED THE DOORS OF COMMUNICATION
I WORK IN THE BRAZILIAN OIL FIELD AROUND RIO AND NORTH... WHEN I CAME HERE I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND OR SPEAK A WORD ... AS YOU MIGHT IMAGINE THAT WAS PRETTY HARD TO HAVE A BOAT CREW DO WHAT NEEDED DONE..
ITS NOW A LITTLE OVER A MONTH LATER AND I'M STILL ON MY 1st DISC, YET THE CREW IS SURPRISED AND EVEN CORRECTING MY USAGE OF THEIR LANGUAGE...
WITH OUT YOUR HELP I WOULD STILL BE IN THE STONE AGE GRUNTING AND POINTING...
THANKS TO YOUR HELP I CAN BEGIN TO COMMUNICATE WITH MY CREW...
I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH INTERNET BANDWIDTH TO USE THE ONLINE PORTION, HOWEVER I HAVE 6 PEOPLE WHO ARE MORE THAN READY TO CORRECT MY TONGUE...
A GREAT COARSE TO SAY THE LEAST.. IT IS EASY TO FOLLOW AND DOES IN FACT LEND ITSELF TO MY LEARNING FASTER ... EVEN THE TOUGH STUFF LIKE PRONOUNS AND GENDER, THAT TO SEEMS TO FALL INTO PLACE PRETTY EASILY...
THANKS FOR A GREAT COARSE..

Great Investment!
Ola!
I ordered this product in the hopes of being able to understand and converse with my Brazilian girlfriend's family (and her too, of course). Although expensive, you really do get what you pay for. Each level of Rosetta Stone (This one is 1-3 - Introduction through full blown conversation with opinions and expressions) has four units. Each Unit has four lessons. So if you bought this program overall, you would be purchasing essentially 48 lessons on Portuguese (3 x 4 x 4). If you spent a similar amount of money (in my area at least) you would get perhaps a semester's worth of Portuguese classes, and at the end maybe be able to do some basic translation and communication. Not so with Rosetta Stone! It's easy to use, very simple to pick up, and the interface is simple and has few options to confuse you. The program tracks your progress, so if you were weak on something the first time, it takes you back to it after a while to see if you have remembered it. You can do the program for as little as 5 minutes per session. No requirements to do it every day, and no tedious translations (Yay!)
In addition, you also get a headset for your Rosetta Studio sessions. At the end of each unit, you have a milestone activity (everything in that unit combined) and then a studio appointment online with a real language speaker. Now I have the opportunity to speak with a real Portuguese speaker every day, but if I was doing another language I might not. I love the accessibility and ease of use of this program.
Oh and did I mention the online games and stories that you can use? You can play by yourself, with a partner, or through something called Simbio, which is where you are teamed up with a native speaker learning your language (so someone in Brazil learning English would be teamed up with me, learning Portuguese).
I've only been using this program for less than a month (about an hour each day) and my girlfriend has already seen progress in me. Instead of not understanding a thing while at her house, now I get maybe 1 out of every 7-8 words... which considering the amount of time, is impressive for me (I was not a good language learner in HS or College). I've even tried the online chat system with a group and a coach, and it was both funny and insightful! I really can't believe how much I've learned! I would totally recommend this! If you aren't sure whether it is worth it, I'd order just the level 1, then see about ordering 2-3 if you like the first level. That would probably get you along just fine if you were going to Brazil just for a trip, and not planning on being there for more than a few weeks...
Tchau! (Bye!)

Great way of learning
I am impressedat the speed that I am learning how to speak Portuguese. Being a native Spanish speaker, Portuguese is not different but because Rosetta Stone is so easy to use I have learned a lot. I cant wait to get home after school to keep learning! My mother loves it too and it was a really great purchase! I am sure Rosetta Stone will prepare me better than a Portuguese class at school when I leave for Brazil next year.

The language barrier is finally broken!
I have struggled for years trying to learn German when I was living in Germany with my family. I never quite got the hang of it and can barely hold a conversation with a native speaker. Then I was sent to Brazil on a mission for the LDS church where I learned Portuguese which was again a huge struggle but one which I overcame with 2 months of studying the language for 10 hours a day at the MTC with experienced teachers and then being completely immersed in the language and culture for nearly two years after that. After my two year mission I went to BYU and got a BA in Portuguese which helped me learn a lot more about the culture and history of Portugal, Brazil, and other Portuguese-related countries and a bit more about the language itself. I went on to teach my children Portuguese simply by never speaking to them in English which I do to this day eight years later. My problem has been lately that my kids understand the language but can't speak it well and I needed a tool to help them. My parents recommended Rosetta Stone since that is what the government uses to train ambassadors that go to foreign countries. I just bought Rosetta Stone and in the weekend that my kids have used it they have just gone nuts. It is so simple and easy that even my 5 year old can use it and both my 5 and 8 year old boys spent hours of fun learning this weekend! I am also using Rosetta Stone to learn French for my job and just by spending a half hour a day on it I am understanding French quickly and easily. I recommend Rosetta Stone to anyone who truly wants to learn a language and doesn't want to suffer the old methods of memorization and verb conjugation that seem so daunting.

Comprehensive Language Training
I have used RS online access previously. Rosetta Stone TotalE is even better, especially with the mobile companion element. I can practice anywhere. I am making better progress in the language, and my elementary age kids are finding it easy to learn as well.

Simply... unbelievable
It's hard to imagine, that as an adult, I can learn a new language as easily and without "work" as I can with Rosetta Stone.
I studied Spanish in High School and College so I'm familiar with the usual methods of learning a foreign language. What the makers of Rosetta Stone have done is nothing short of unbelievable.
In one month, I am recognizing a fairly large vocabulary already. My speaking skills are behind my comprehension skills but I think that's what is expected at this time. What I am, is light years ahead of where I would be in a typical language course.
Bravo Rosetta Stone, you make learning fun, fast and easy!!

Career Fast Forward
I am a Senior Director of Sales and Marketing for a large corporation. My area of responsibility includes North and South America. I purchased the Rosetta Stone Spanish Latin America levels 1 - 5 program, and loved it. So much so, that after only three months into the Latin America Spanish program, I purchased the Portugues (Brazil) Totale program. At first I was worried about taking on too much at the same time. Then I realized that comparing the differences between Spanish and Portugues, actually helped me to retain what I was learning. I am extremely excited, suprised, and proud to know that I will soon be fluent in three languages!

Definately Worth It!
Before buying Rosetta Stone I had heard a lot of good stuff about it, but I never knew how good it actually was. After studying with Rosetta Stone for several months I am proud to say that this software does work! I can now hold conversations in Portuguese and many people often mistaken me for Brazilian. Thanks Rosetta Stone! I will definately be using your products in the future! Muito Obrigado!

quick
I was becoming frustrated by just trying to "pick up" Portuguese from my boyfriend's family and by watching the local Brazilian channel on TV. But when I tried Rosetta Stone, I learned more Portuguese half way through level one than I did in the previous year! Suddenly I was able to converse with my boyfriend and his family and friends instead of just listening intently. Thank you for helping me to find a way to relate to people who are so important to me in their own language.

Portuguese?
Yes Rosetta Stone works very well in teaching you a new language. However I am a bit dissapointed that their Portuguese software is only available in a Brazilian dialect. I am Portuguese myself and wanted to perfect the language. I find it puzzling that they would offer Portuguese with a Brazilian dialect but not with the dialect of the country from which the language came. Yet they have two different versions of Spanish.

It works!
I am familiar with the Rosetta Stone programs, as I had purchased the Spanish version a few years ago in preparation for a trip to Spain. Worked great! With no previous experience in Spanish, I was placed into an advanced-intermediate immersion class when I got there. All thanks to my work with RS.
The Brazilian Portuguese program is just as great: I'm learning to read, write and speak pretty well in just a couple of months. I have a few Brazilian friends who are amazed at how much I have learned in such a short time.
I wholeheartedly recommend the Rosetta Stone program to anyone who is interested in learning another language, whether for business or pleasure. It's fun and it works!
