I went to Italy and actually could converse! It's incredibly exciting to not only pursue the learning of a new language, but to be able to speak the language in its basic form is truly stimulating. I never thought just a level 1 course would be enough to help really "get" the language, but it did. I went to Venice, Rome, Florence and Milan and practiced what I had learned and felt so much more comfortable understanding the basics. The teaching process of Rosetta Stone is far different and far more engaging. I looked forward to throwing on my head phones and practicing, and got excited when it all started to make sense and I could speak in sentences. And I did it in just a few weeks. I can't wait to move to the next level, simply so I have another excuse to travel to Italy:) But most importantly, I want to be able to speak Italian to my Naples born grandmother at her August birthday. Grazie mille! Mi piace molto Rosetta Stone! Laura March 15, 2009
Amazing to learn Italian in retirement! My lifelong goal has been to learn Italian in order to speak with my relations in Tuscany, Rome, Turino, and Livorno. My father, a native Italian speaker, died before I had the opportunity to learn and speak Italian with him. We will visit our relatives next summer and it will be an honor to speak to them to honor my Dad. He was the translator on prior trips. I never thought I could learn Italian or any language at age 59. I had never felt competent from years of High School French and assumed I was "not good with languages". However, Rosetta Stone is different. It is helping me break through barriers to learning and understanding a new language. The immersion method and the variety of learning modules are really amazing. The modules are quick and easy - I don't have to commit a large amount of time for each learning session. I find myself saying things in Italian as I move through daily life. I recently purchased Levels 2-5 because I feel so excited about learning and want to do more. I haven't begun speaking online to others through e-chat but am excited to start that part of the learning activity. I am confident that I will be able to speak with my relatives in Italy next summer. It is exciting to learn and feel confident and competent in Italian in only a few weeks. My husband and kids keep smiling at me. This is the best learning course ever. Thank you, Rosetta Stone, for helping me achieve my lifelong goal. November 28, 2012
Fun I go at my own pace, enjoy games when I am in my families homes and can't really pay full attention, but I am learning just the same. I play the cd's in my car all the time as reinforcement and say to myself "oh I am getting it". I even use a few words to friends who have no idea what I said which is REALLY allot of fun. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn a new language, for work, school or just for yourself. November 28, 2012
Great- but not great... This program DOES have one of the key components of effectively learning any given language; HOWEVER, it is void of: 1) a [reference] Dictionary! 2) a Translation Button to verify what you're saying! May 9, 2012
Superb Product This is by far the most effective language acquisition program I have ever experienced. Learning is natural and fun! The online session with Francesca was instructional, yet pleasant. April 25, 2011
I Don't Have an Italian Problem I can quit anytime. I don't need to learn to speak Italian with Rosetta Stone, I just enjoy it. It doesn't hurt anyone. It doesn't bother my dog when i give her dog commands in Italian. (I think she understood when I told her she needed a bath because she was dirty and smelly). And it doesn't really annoy my family and friends when I insert Italian phrases into our conversations and emails, because I always translate for them. I like to do a lesson in the morning before work because it wakes me up and helps me think better. After work, a few sessions help me wind down and relax. I really look forward to spending time with my new friends on Studio sessions. There is nothing wrong with wanting to spend more time with friends. It is perfectly healthy to daydream about my next lesson, and to try to describe everything around me in Italian. So what if I sent my sister in law Italian Level One so I could have someone else to talk to-she needed something to occupy her after the ski accident. And planning a cycling trip to Tuscany this summer can only help the economy of two countries. I don't have a Rosetta Stone problem. I can quit anytime. I just don't want to. April 14, 2011
Fun and easy way to learn I received Rosetta Stone Italian Level 1 this past Christmas and I love it! I have always wanted to learn Italian but never had the time to take classes, this is great because I can do it from home anytime I want. I'm already ready for the next level! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to learn a new language. April 10, 2011

Getting old is no fun! I am really enjoying myself and having fun but I find it difficult with plurals and with masculine and feminine, and words like delle, dei, noi, voi, chi, c' ci ci sono, tavoli, quante-quanti, ho-ha and gli. I haven't called for tutoring yet because I think it will come to me but there may be a time for that. Can't teach an old dog new tricks and I'm an old dog. April 8, 2011
Italian I have wanted to learn Italian my entire life. I finally decided to do it and chose Rosetta STone as the way to do it. I have only been at it for about a month, but I really enjoying it. I am learning quickly and enjoying every minute of it. I am trying to speak as much as I can in my new language so that I can accelerate. My first studio session was so scary, but the instructor was very nice and enjoyable. I would recommend to any of my friends wanting to learn a new language. I have become addicted to this! Great program I believe the issue with many language courses/programs is they tell you what to learn but not how to study/memorize the material (at least in the US). That said, I've found Rosetta Stone to be effective due to it's design and content. It uses interactive exercises and fun game to teach you the language you want to learn! In my case, it was Italian. Thank you Rosetta Stone. April 7, 2011
Fun and Fast! Rosetta Stone is fun to use and makes learning Italian fast! I am enjoying it and looking forward to my trip to Rome! I am using my old college textbook as a help. It clarifies some of the lessons in the program. It would be nice to have a written supplement to Rosetta Stone. Also, I wish it came with an audio tape or CD so that I could listen while I drive or walk. April 7, 2011
Great Language Program The learning process is excellent, I am enjoying learning Italian, working with the on-line tools and live support. April 7, 2011
Motto Bene!! So very helpful! I received Rosetta Stone as a Christmas present, and it is such an excellent past time! Whenever I get the chance, I just pop on for anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours, and when I'm done, I know more Italian! Its excellent because you can really see how much you have learned. All you have to do is look back at the older lessons, and you can really see how much more you know since then. I love my Italian Rosetta Stone, and once I'm done with Italian, I plan on getting German next! April 7, 2011
Good but with they covered basics first I learned as a student to speak Spanish by first learning the basics - alphabet, days of the week, numbers etc - before I jumped into phrases. I wish Rosetta Stone did this or provided the option to see the basics. I also with they had the option to see English translation. Sometimes I dont know exactly what is being said. April 7, 2011
It Is Bringing Us Closer Together The Rosetta Stone program has been the only way I have been able to learn a new language. I took classes in high school and college but could never get the languages to stick. With the Rosetta Stone, I have managed to learn German, Spanish, and currently Italian. As a teacher, the pedagogy of instruction is natural and the language is picked up much like we learned our first language, through immersion. As an English speaker, it has helped me communicate more effectively with my Italian significant other and has brought us closer. I feel confident in my ability to speak and that I can learn any language! November 9, 2010
Best Language Learning System I learned (and remembered) more with Italian Level 1 faster than I have with any other language learning system. I have tried a couple of different approaches to learning a foreign tongue and find the immersion technique which the Rosetta Stone takes you through the language a fun and encouraging way to learn. My only issues with the system is a.) I found the headphone/microphone equipment was not great (I replaced it with a better headset and am getting better results) and b.) I wish there was some supplemental online reading and/or exercises that allowed for re-enforcement of what I had learned in the section. That being said, I am an avid fan of Rosetta Stone and have recommended it to friends who have expressed interest in learning another language. September 18, 2010
To Stone, or not to Stone? Late in Feburary I was nearing the 6 month cutoff for a full refund/return. Frankly, I was seriously considering getting my denari back I gave for Italian Level I. I was applying myself, putting in the time on a regular basis. The companion cd's were getting steady use on my 45 minute commute, but I just didn't feel like I was getting it. Grammar seemed especially difficult, and I was doubting if this method was the best for learning it. Pronunciation-yes, vocabulary-maybe, but grammar? I just don't know... Then one evening I was watching some shallow, escapist TV, brain in neutral and I realized I was thinking of what I was seeing in Italian. In complete sentences no less. Nothing very complex, mind you, but comprehensible. Well whaddaya know, the Stone is working. Here it is late April, my interest in learning Italian via the Rosetta Stone program and companion cd's (I really like those) remains unflagged. Now then, will my next purchase be for Level II alone, or combine it with Level III? That's the question now. April 28, 2010
Go Italy! I purchased and completed Italian Level 1 for a vacation to Italy. I was so impressed with the program and it was a lot of fun! The best part though was when I got to put what I had learned into practice. Then I realized just how well it had worked. I was understood and couldn't get over how much I was able to understand. I did all my ordering and shopping in Italian and even asked for directions and understood most of their replies. It gave me a lot of confidence on my trip which made it that much more enjoyable. It makes me want to keep going with the next level. The program is fun & it works! April 19, 2010
A most excellent learning experience! I would definately recommend to a friend. April 17, 2010
Good for learning pronuciation In preparation for a 12 day trip to Venice, I had to try the software program that I had heard so much about. It was hard to spend the money, but I wanted to be able to speak Italian while in Italy. I did learn to speak and to pronounce correctly but did not find the phrases and information taught as useful as I had hoped. I had to buy a book to learn how to use the train system and how to ask many questions of those working in the stores and restaurants. April 15, 2010
I find it somwhat difficult and hard to get into the language April 14, 2010
Amazing Product I have had Level 1 itialian for a few months now and it is the best thing ever I remeber more Itialian with in the first few days than 5 years of spanish classes sitting with a teacher who drons on and on about things that no one cares about Rosettastone really works and you see results fast and its FUN!! I haven't enjoyed learning like this in a long time it beats out all other methods of learning a new language. It does come with a price but if your serouse about learing a new language then this is the place to go and try. April 12, 2010
Italian the Easy Way I absolutely enjoyed my experience with Rosetta Stone Italian I. As a former teacher, I think the approach taken was very effective. I started to "see" things in Italian very quickly. I even started dreaming about Italian. What a different experience from conjugating verbs. I would definitely recommend the program to anyone seeking a painless way to learn a foreign language. Thank you Rosetta Stone! April 12, 2010
Solid, fun, and user friendly If you ever thought about learning a new language take the plunge with RS! Looked at several other courses and they seemed cumbersome, tedious, and too detailed. Not for the layperson at all! With Rosetta you literally dive right in the very first session and start learning new words. RS uses an "immersion" technique that almost replicates learning as a child with images being associated with words. Some of the perks include, graded lessons which give you an idea of your progress and the option of continuing to the next, or redoing. No annoying timers let you learn at your pace, your way. You can also choose to go back and do certain lessons for review at any time. They incorporate everday things such as, people, food, objects, animals, and tasks that can apply to everyday life. There is a wealth of learning on each course to keep you interested and motivated while having fun with the process! Arrivederci! Rick April 10, 2010
Very Good Learning Program The format for the program is good because it uses a variety of senses and techniques to continually reinforce what has been presented. It teaches language elements by example. And, it uses practical words and phrases. The program starts with very simplistic words and concepts and advances gradually as the language is revealed. Presumably, the value increases in later parts of the program series. April 10, 2010
I can't believe how great this is!!! My wife is half Italian and has always wanted to learn the language, but she just doesn't have time to take college language classes. I purchased Rosetta Stone Italian Level 1 for her for Christmas. I can't believe how much she has learned!! I plan on taking her to Italy for her birthday and she has complete confidence that she will be able to communicate with people there.....with only the first level! I am amazed when she speaks Italian to me (not to mention it's pretty sexy haha). Thank you Rosetta Stone for making her dream come true!! YOU ROCK! Jeff April 10, 2010
Even I could learn Italian I thoroughly enjoyed learning Italian. I've struggled to learn languages, so this program was a welcome relief for me. I was able to progress through each section and review sections when I felt it necessary. I highly recommend this program. I will take another course when I return from Italy. Ciao! April 10, 2010

Makes Learning Fun Rosetta Stone made my first exposure to learning Italian easy and fun. Love the interactivity and the instant feedback on correct answers and correct pronunciation. Just in the first lesson, I learned how to talk about men, women and children eating, drinking, swimming, running, reading and writing!! April 9, 2010
