Ranks with the best language programs The Rosetta Stone approach is the perfect method to learn a language -- oral/oral. You learn the language from the language itself, logically progressing from simple words and sentences without the need for translation. I originally studied German at a Goethe Institut in 1969, and this version uses a nearly identical approach to teaching the language. The words and images match beautifully and each lesson reinforces previous lessons and builds new understanding with every activity. It is enjoyable and fascinating. I can't wait to engage in each activity: pronunciation, spelling, grammar, vocabulary. It is all interactive and interesting. I'm still in the early lessons but feel I that I make dramatic progress every day. April 7, 2011
I talk German! Rosetta Stone is really amazing! With just a few daily exercises I feel I'm learning German a little at a time. And what's great about it is that it doesn't teach you to translate from English. It just teaches you how to speak another language. I really enjoy the learning! April 7, 2011
I was exicted at first to try out this new program. when I heard about it from other people who used it gave great reviews. I became even more exicted when I started using it for a trip to Germany this summer for a college trip. We are going to visit Holocaust sites and expand our knowldge and I was very exicted to learn a new language as well as be able to speak with native speakers. The software was very diverse in teaching a new language. I thought the games as well as the tutor was an excellent way to reinforce what was taught. The way the language is taught makes it seem easy. Once you complete one thing you want to keep going and going. It is to easy to get lost in the program and crave learning more and more. Great way to learn, but... i would like to have some "best practices". i quickly found out that you need to invest more than just a couple of hours a week. So far I have out that i need spend at least 1- 1.5 hours un-interupted at least 3 days a week to really to have a sustained learning. Also, maybe some "outside reading". Bought some German children's books to learn more. June 22, 2010
Excellent Investment Learning languages has never been easy for me. Memorization is not my strong suit, so book styled language training did not work well for my learning style. But my husband and I have a strong desire to live overseas in a German speaking nation, thus were inspired to at least try to learn German. The Rosetta Stone method of pictorial, audio, and written learning has been perfect for both my husbands and my learning styles. With this method we remember words more easily and quickly began to form simple sentences. Additionally, we both love that we can go back to sessions where we struggle with words/phrases/sentence structure and with a few reviews can conquer those trouble areas. We both highly recommend Rosetta Stone and are excited for the day when we complete Level 3 and can integrate ourselves into a German speaking nation. Thanks for developing such an easy and fun method of language learning! April 30, 2010
I've been very pleased with my Rosetta Stone purchase. I feel like my learning curve with this tool has exceeded any other method I've tried. April 26, 2010
A teacher who learned a new approach I am a foreign language teacher who learned Spanish and French through the grammar/ translation approach. When I first saw Rosetta Stone, I thought it was simply the listen and repeat approach from the 1960’s that someone had simply put on the computer. I was happy to see that someone took the time to integrate the good parts of the grammatical approach and the old listen and repeat approach to create Rosetta Stone. I have never seen a superior tool for insuring correct pronunciation. I have tried another one of the popular language learning software programs, but the Rosetta Stone program has the ability to show you where your pronunciation went wrong. Another superior advantage to using the Rosetta Stone that you hear the voice of a native speaker and you can compare your voice to that of the native speaker. The use if the Rosetta Stone is important in my opinion because I remember first learning French from a non-native who basically spoke French with a strong American accent. I believe that hearing the native speaker while reading the language on the screen makes the students more likely to understand the foreign language when they encounter a native speaker of the language. My only complaint about the program would be the writing area. If the sentence is incorrect at all, it is counted as completely incorrect in the scoring…at least it seems to do so. Also, I would like to see the Milestone exercises at the end of the unit have multiple responses, instead of just one. I am now in the process of trying to the Rosetta Stone for my school division. I truly believe that it will help the students’ pronunciations better then any other program available. I also purchased the German 4-5 as soon as it came out. April 23, 2010
Head Phones I am very impressed with the learning process that Rosetta Stone uses. It does encourage you to keep going on to the next lesson. I do however have a major problem with the headset. It does not always work. It does not begin the way that it did when we first got the program. April 20, 2010
Best Way to Learn By teaching through intuition and repetition, Rosetta Stone is the best. Actually fun, not a dreadful task. The ability to test your pronunication, and even to set the level of exactness, put this heads and shoulders over trying to learn from books, even with CD's that you use to supplement for pronunciation. You can't hear for yourself if you're hitting the mark, but Rosetta Stone can. Use of native speakers was a plus. Many day to day situations which make this useful for those planning a trip to Germany. Would suggest you supplement with books on grammer if you want to fully understand gender of nouns and other rules. Overall a great product. Wish I had bought volumes 4 & 5 when I bought volumes 1-3! Learning is Fun I really look forward to my Rosetta Stone lessons. As a High School teacher, I know how students can dread learning and doing homework. My wife and I go out of the country every couple years. Not being able to speak with the locals has always been disappointing. In preparing to go to Germany this summer, I was worried about being able to learn enough of the language to have a less touristy experience. I think Rosetta Stone is preparing me more than French class in college did for last summer's trip to France. I plan on using Rosetta Stone on all our future trips - I can't think of a better recommendation. April 19, 2010
Money Well Spent My experience with Rosetta Stone has been nothing short of superb! I purchased it in preparation for my upcoming trip to Germany. Although I took college German classes in the late 70s, I never had an opportunity to use it very much after that. Rosetta Stone provided me with a great opportunity to review what I once knew and expand my knowledge through listening, speaking, and writing. The vocabulary contained in the lessons is current. For example, one of the lessons referred to a "handy" which is a cell phone. When I arrived in Germany, I saw a billboard which had a cell phone and the word "handy" on it. I got excited and thought how I had learned that through Rosetta Stone. I particularly like the Rosetta Stone method because I never got bored, and I was able to learn quickly. I attribute this to the fact there is such variety, i.e. speaking, listening, writing, and vocabulary. Also, the programs periodically took me back to older lessons to help me retain what I previously learned. Because of my great learning experience through Rosetta Stone, I gained so much confidence and fluency that I could easily communicate with the Germans. Since I was traveling without a tour group, this skill was very helpful and made for a great vacation! Thank you, Rosetta Stone! April 16, 2010
Great Product I have taken language classes in the pass when I was attending university. Living in Canada, a university class costs around $350 plus text books. Rosetta Stone cost me about $600 all included and have learned a lot more. I can practice anytime on my computer, in my car and on my iPod. The way the product is built, it just makes it intuitive to learn a new language. Great purchase! April 12, 2010
German Levels 1-3 As I was moving to Germany for 5 months, I figured I should learn the language. One month before leaving I bought Rosetta Stone and spent 1-2 hrs per day working on it. By the time I got to Germany I could engage in basic conversation and get my thoughts across. I've continued with the program, and with the combination of that and my time here, I am becoming very proficient in the language. It is more helpful that my private German instruction once per week. Awesome I haven't been able to devote the time I would like to this but when I do It is great. I not only get to learn to pronounce the words but I learn how to use them in sentences, spell them, and read them. I have recommended this to people I work with. April 10, 2010
Outstanding Outstanding in every way to ease ones hesitations on learning a new language which I thought to be a life threating exercise. A wonderful product setup that features a step by step learning curve on how easy it really is, to support and master something feared as difficult. This is an individual thought process of structured self learning. I would recommend RosettaStone to any individual that considers learning a new language more challenging than it really is......... April 10, 2010
Easy to learn and use... Excellent! Started picking up words and sentences right away with ease and I really love the the fact that I can go back and repeat each lesson as many times as I like to really learn before moving forward. April 10, 2010
Best Language Course Available I love the German 1,2,3 level course. I am heading to Germany for the next several summers and I need to learn to speak German fluently. Although languages come easily to me from a book, I desperately need to "hear" the language and Rosetta Stone provides this ear practice for me. Thank you so much Rosetta Stone. I definitely look forward to German 4 and 5! April 9, 2010
Useful and Fun Language classes in school were tedious and grammar drills weighed you down. Audiotapes depended on word associations. Rosetta Stone modules enable you to dial directly into using the new language associated with pictures and situations. Reinforcement is built in with non-cumbersome repetition. I have it installed on my laptop so I can pull it up and have a lesson while I'm on the road. You aren't tied to any specific length of time for a session. I'm thoroughly satisfied with Rosetta Stone and would recommend it to anyone who has a desire to learn a new language. April 9, 2010
excellent product I recently purchased the German Level 1,2,and 3 software. This was one of the best decisions I have made in recent memory. As a student of french language for over 5 years now, I know and understand the time and effort that goes into learning a new language, and this software makes it so much easier. It presents the language in a way that is instantly applicable to the real world. I plan on purchasing the French software so I can keep fresh on my verb usage. April 9, 2010
Great Investment Probably one of the best investments I have ever made, Rosettastone has helped me learn German very easily. The way you learn makes it very hard to forget, I haven't practice German in over 4 months and i can still recall almost everything I have learned. A great product. April 9, 2010
Super Language Software! This product saved me from getting really poor grades in german class and even helped me boost my grade to an A. I love the speaking part of this software because it really helps you sound like you've spoken the language for years. This product is a totally stress free way to learn and understand a language. I would recommend this to anyone who needs help in a forein language class or just wants to learn a language for a job or for fun. April 8, 2010
Sehr gut! I am really impressed with the quality of Rosetta Stone. I am an emerging opera singer, and basic knowledge of German is a must. I studied German while getting my undergraduate degree, and I found myself confused about German syntax, but Rosetta Stone makes it so clear and concise! I would recommend this product to anyone! Rather efficient The main problem in learning languages- it is time required. Usually, it is the a lot of time. With Rosetta Stone it goes much faster than all previous attempts. And one more thing - memorization is much better. Words, phrases and situations are kept in memory much longer. April 8, 2010
Das Best Rosetta Stone is the best out there to learn a new language. In my case German. It's alot of fun and it rewards you with a good feeling of accomplishment. Even the writting sections, which of course are a bit tidious, makes the overall course so much more fun! One wont regret the investment in Rosetta Stone! Danke! April 8, 2010
A sound and fundamental good product I added steps to your process. When I could, I typed out the words or phrases. This help when I was requested to type long sentences. It also helped me with the prouncation and learn how to read other words quicker. I was reading it off of my typed out paper. As I was taught in middle school, high school, and college; the best way to learn something is to listen to it, say it, and write it. I did these steps repeatively. April 8, 2010
Highly Recommend I would highly recommend Rosetta Stone as a way to rapidly and accurately learn a new lanuage. It is not only fun but what a feeling of accomplishment. April 8, 2010
Great first step Rosetta Stone German is a great first step toward learning German. April 7, 2010
German Experience Rosetta Stone has helped my, more then any other way, learn German. It has given me the confidence to plan a trip to Germany in the near future and thanks to Rosetta Stone I will be able to enjoy my experience and not struggle because of a language barrier. April 7, 2010
Twisted Tongue I purchased the the German level 1, 2, & 3 tapes. Having a video that shows the words and how to pronounce them properly in everyday language and being able to go over and over each segment, helped turn my twisted tongue into a smooth operator. April 7, 2010
German 1-3 This software is great, very easy to follow along, the real time feedback is wonderful. In just a few months I've found myself able to understand most of what people are saying and find myself subconciously thinking in the native language. Now I'm very excited to learn even more languages. April 7, 2010
