A surprise At the best of times it is challenging to learn another language, but the Rosetta stone makes it fun. I find the hours at my computer melt away as I switch between lessons and games. Hearing several voices pronounce the words and the fact that it is an immersion course make it that much more enjoyable. I have already persuaded one of my friends to try the Frech lessons November 29, 2012
This is a wonderful software for beginner to learn a new language. I guess the most to difficult part on the language learning is consistency and day-dy-day practice. The rossetta app on my iPhone helped me to review the lessons. I would like to see the software with the feature to design language learning plans for people with different mother tongues. I was suprised to find out after three months you have to pay an extra 300(!) for the online access. This is ridiculous, it's like you pay for what you want, then find out your only paying for half of what you want, then you have to pay more! I get paying tutors is expensive, but you have to take away the games too? RIDICULOUS. -very upset April 23, 2012
good supplement i used this as a supplement to my college course it was very useful. i had never learned a foreign language and was nervous about learning for the first time in a university setting but i was able to use the rosetta stone and make it through with a "B" April 11, 2011
The full immersion technique for Rosetta Stone is pure genius. Unlike high school language class where a man is shown, then English is displayed..."This is a man", then German...."Das ist ein Mann", one sees only the picture and the German. Eliminating the English portion forces the student to leave the English behind and focus on the German. The studio sessions are the best....pulls together lessons learned and solidifies the transition to the new language. April 8, 2011
Great trip to Germany I purchased level 1 exactly one month prior to traveling to Germany to meet my wife's family. While one month is not enough time to fully learn everything your product has to offer, I was able to speak basic German and most importantly, I was able to understand most everything that was said! Your product is amazing. As soon as I finish level one more completely, I will be purchasing level 2. I did all my learning unbeknownst to my wife. She was so surporised when she heard me speak German that she cried. Thank you RosettaStone. November 8, 2010
It works and it's actually fun Just before a recent trip to Germany, I gave myself 2 1/2 days to learn the language. Not ideal, but I got halfway through Rosetta Stone's German Level 1 product and was able to interact on a basic level, confidently, with everybody I met. If you've traveled abroad, you know what a difference that can make. I can only imagine how conversant I will be after finishing all of Level 1. Even more familiar and confident with the language! The teaching method is very effective, and it's even fun! November 8, 2010
Germany here I come The Rosetta Stone program is really fun and easy to use. I have enjoyed using it so far and I am excited to keep using it and try level 2! I am hoping that the program will help me in the future in a career in international business. I feel confident that Rosetta Stone will help me be successful! November 7, 2010
German Level 1 Excellent language product I have ever experienced. I tried taking German 1 in college and the experience was not a positive one. Rosetta Stone takes you at your own pace and the positive reinforcement at the end of a chapter builds your self confidence. If you want to learn a foreign language please give Rosetta Stone a try and you wont' be disappointed in the results. November 5, 2010
Area of Improvement I purchased the Level 1 - German and I have to agree that the memorization is quite effective via pictures and relations to day to day things. So I did learn quite a few german words and phrases. But there is no explanation on the use of articles, pronouns and verbs conjugation. You have to figure it on your own. For the price of the package you will expect at least some basic grammar and proper writing skills to link it to the memorization approach used by the program, instead of trial and error everytime you are going to practice writing. German Level 1 It has been a while since I tried to learn German in my High School in '73. But hearing the words, and being able to compare your voice pattern with the more correct German pronounciations was very helpfull in SOUNDING and feeling more like my German could be understood. I would love to go to Germany now and bring Level 2 and 3 with me, if I could afford it ;) April 24, 2010
Amazingly Effective After one sitting with it, I found myself thinking in terms of the second language. When I would look at items or people, I would think of the second language words instead of English. Quite amazing! April 23, 2010
Super Duper! I am an 11 year old student and I received the Roseta Stone German 1 for my 12th birthday. I really wanted it because I am a skier with the Green Mountain Valley School in Waitsfield Vermont. I was going to Germany and Austria in January 2010 and I wanted to be able to speak some German for y trip. I worked with the Roseta Stone every day after school and although I am not fluent yet, it made my trip Super, Duper and I was able to speak and understand many of those I met and stayed with on my trip. My roseta Stone program did justs what I had hoped it would and I continue to use it, daily. By my next trip to Germany I should be quite fluent and understand almost everything. I would love to have German 11! thanks for your help in making German possible fo rme. April 22, 2010
FUN & ENGAGING Learning a new language has been difficult for me. That said, the biggest value for me has been the ability to practice at home with a tool that I find engaging and sort of fun. It's also been very helpful to hear native speakers. I'm also taking a group class. The combination of a class with Rosetta Stone lessons has been a nice combo for me. April 14, 2010
Loving it so far My husband has been using this more than I but I plan on starting soon. He really loves it and uses it in all his free time. He is learning a ton and speaks German to me all the time now. I can't wait to start! April 13, 2010
Ich spreche Deutsch This learning tool has made it possible for me to pursue an opportunity to study in Germany this coming summer. Because of Rosetta Stone's incremental instruction, I feel totally confident heading over there. Everything I learned in the first lesson was repeated and incorporated into every lesson afterwards. This makes retention so much easier than in other language instruction models. April 13, 2010
Excellent Trip Preparation I wanted to learn some baby level German before I took a vacation in Berlin, Germany. I investigated a number of language course options and settled on Rosetta Stone because it was the closest to the way one initially learns a language (no translations back and forth into English!) I was extremely satisfied with my experience with German Level 1. Basically, what I wanted was to gain a comfort level with the language and that was clearly the result for me. German Level 1 really doesn't take you to the point of being able to hold a real conversation, but I found in speaking with my German friends that if I used what I had learned from German Level 1 and just used English for the rest, everyone seemed to understand just fine. I had no trouble telling taxi drivers where I needed to go, ordering in restaurants, etc. To sum up, the learning experience was fun, non intimidating, and I learned a lot in a very short time. I highly recommend the Rosetta Stone system for learning a new language. I didn't know any German before I began and wondered whether the course would work for an old retiree like me. It worked just fine thank you. April 12, 2010
German - Level 1 I studied German - Level 1 for several months before my daughter and I went to Germany for a three week vacation. With that I had enough basic German to make our trip quite enjoyable. I was able to communicate our needs in a mannerly fashion and I believe that the effort made to learn the language of the country we were visiting was greatly appreciated by the people we met. As for the software itself, it was well done and easy to follow. I found most helpful the CD's that I could listen to in the car and use to reinforce the lessons I had learned. In fact I plan on purchasing spanish before our next trip. April 12, 2010
German 1 Version 3 This is a marked improvement over my Version 2 French. I like the increased emphasis on speaking the language with the audio CDs along with the computer lessons. I find that speaking improves my retention markedly. The writing especially with the German keyboard while awkward at first improves retention. It gets you thinking and practicing the language even when I am not doing the lessons. Using the audio CDs during my daily commute makes the time go faster more productively. This is a terrific program. April 11, 2010
Very Happy Santa was kind enough to leave me the Rosetta Stone program in Deutsch. I am very happy with this means of learning German. You hear it, you see it and you speak it. I use the audio companion in my car on a regular basis to practice what I learned on the computer. The other thing I really like about it is that other members of the family can be learning it as well. At their own speed and on their own schedule. If I could ask for anything else to be added to this, it would be a work book, where I could practice writing it. However, RosettaStone did let me know about a download I could use and that has been helpful. I am having fun and I am proud of my progress with the language. April 9, 2010
Worth Every Penny I took German for two years in high-school and really enjoyed it, but in my junior and senior years I just never had time. I was still interested in learning more German, but I didn't really have the option until I bought Rosetta Stone. I was a bit worried that it wouldn't be worth its initial cost, however it definitely was. April 8, 2010
Product Works for Anyone I've been told by many people to take Spanish as it is the easiest language to learn if you're a native English speaker yet I failed it three times and couldn't understand why I couldn't grasp it. After picking up Rosetta Stone German Level 1 I've been learning quickly and retaining all of my information. I feel confident about taking the courses here at my university and I strongly recommend anyone considering learning a second language to give Rosetta Stone a try. You won't regret it. April 8, 2010
It works I have been using Rosetta Stone to learn German. It really works! I love the immersion method which makes my learning natural and fun. We have a foreign exchange student from Germany and I can talk to him in German easily. April 7, 2010
Great Product! Rosetta Stone is a great product and does a very good job teaching you a language. It's a lot of fun and I look forward to using it. The audio companion is a great supplement, also. I listen to it when I'm in the car. It's a must if you truly want to master the language. The only complaint I have is I don't think Rosetta Stone emphasizes writing enough. There is only a small section in each lesson on it. However, all in all, it is definitely worth the money! April 7, 2010
Brain Food I love my Rosetta Stone tapes. I had 4 years of German in night school and a year in college, but I am speaking German better now than ever. I always have one of the CD's in my car so I can practice while driving. I'm looking forward to a trip to Germany. April 7, 2010
This program worked well. I would recommend it to other people wanting to learn German. April 7, 2010
Rosetta german 1 I am actually in Austria and striving to immerse myself in the culture and in the german language. I have watched the television here, listened to people speak and try to teach me and read magazines with german articles and english translations but NOTHING has prepared me to speak and UNDERSTAND German the way Rosetta Stone has. I have actually decided to minor in German at University directly as a result of my positive learning experience with Rosetta Stone and you can bet I am ordering the next sets of German from Rosetta to progress further. Way to go with helping an english speaking foreigner in a new country! I LOVE Rosetta Stone. April 7, 2010
Learning German this way is Fun My husband and I are active, young retirees. We decided to learn German as a fun activity to share together. Additionally we plan several trips to Europe soon, so knowing conversational German will be helpful. We are very pleased with the results. Learning a language this way is so much better for us than a classroom setting. We learn at our own pace, in an excellent learning format. Thank you Rosetta Stone. April 7, 2010
exciting way to learn Rosetta program in German is exciting and fun. While I had studied German 40 years ago, it is an outstanding program for pronunciation, increasing vocabulary, and using the language. Both the software and the audio programs need to be used together. I am now ready to begin my next level of study. I have also used all 5 levels of Spanish. I now feel more confident when I meet someone in either language. April 7, 2010
Why arn't other languate courses like Rosetta Satone? It just makes so much sense. This is basicly the way a child learns a language. Even at 72 years old, I can learn and this is the way to do it. I gave Rosetta Stone 5 STARS. The only other thing they could do, to make it easier is send a German to my house to stay indefinately. And come to think of it, that's practically what they do.
