Easy way to learn
From the day I received Rosetta Stone French 1 & 2 I was very anxious to start learning. It is very easy to follow and learn the language. If you feel you haven't quite mastered it you can go back and start again. I have a problem on pununciation so I kept going back till I could understand and pronouce it correctly. It is definately a wonderful investment.

Not what I expected
I see no benefit for the way the material is presented. The microphone that comes with the product was so cheap that the software could not understand any speech. I used another microphone and it worked perfectly. They advertise games to help with learning. Fine if you don't mind spending more money again and again. You can buy much cheaper software and get better results faster. An expensive mistake.

Highly Recommended
I was extremely hesitant about purchasing software this expensive, but after many unsuccessful attempts of learning French from other products on the market, I finally gave in and purchased Rosetta Stone. This was the best decision I could have made. I am absolutely amazed at how fast I am, for the first time, understanding French. Rosetta Stone simultaneously teaches you how to read, write, speak, and understand the language. I am a full time college student with a part time job so finding the time is not easy, but I have been devoting between 10 to 30 minutes a day for the past 4 to 5 weeks and ALREADY I can have short conversations with a good friend of my who is fluent in the language. I can say without a doubt that, if you are serious about learning a new language, you will not regret this purchase. I cannot wait to finish French so I can start another language.

Outstanding Method
Rosetta Stone makes learning French so much fun! I love the way each lesson is augmented by games, reading activities, and live online conversations.
One key feature that is really impressive is the voice recognition software. Raising the difficulty level is really helping me adjust my muscles so that I can more accurately pronounce each word, phrase, and sentence.
Aside from moving to France for full immersion, this software program is the best method of learning a new language that I have encountered.

Wow! I never thought It would be this good.
I have tried a number of other online learning sites to learn French. I didn't want to spend a fortune to learn it either. However, with the online sites, I was not able to retain the information I was learning. I thought the price was steep but I decided to give Rosetta Stone a try. It is so much better than I thought it would be. Now, I retain the language so much better. I will be out and will automatically think of the french word that corresponds to the product. I will see the picture that Rosetta Stone uses and the words that go along with it in my mind. It is totally worth the price. You won't be disappointed in this product.

Just starting
I am 72 years old and have always wanted to learn another language. Several years ago I worked on and took self learning courses in Russian. It was very difficult but I did learn some basics. Two of my granddaughters, ages 3 and 4 are in a total imersion French school and I want to be able to converse with them in French and I believe Rosetta stone will accomplish this goal.

Best if used with other materials
I purchased the Rosetta Stone program to serve as an introduction to learning my 4th language. Unfortunately, I am not entirely pleased. The program does not present nearly enough vocabulary. Although I was not expecting to use this software without any companion materials, I have been surprised by how much I have had to rely on other sources, particularly in regard to explaining grammar and picking up new vocabulary. Furthermore, for some students, learning the rules and intricacies of a language can create a roadblock; however, I prefer to learn the grammar rules from the onset instead of picking them up haphazardly as I go along. Perhaps this program just isn't for my style of learning. I would, however, recommend it to those who have trouble motivating themselves to learn on their own.

Great way to learn a language. Inexpensive compared to taking a class and/or traveling. I have used other language software during classes that come nowhere close in comparison with Rosetta Stone. Spot on my friends, spot on. Looking forward to future updates.

Easy fun to learn French!
A trip to French speaking Canada prompted a desire to learn French. After lots of research I found Rosetta Stone. I was a bit hesitant on the price because there were cheaper options out there but I wanted it to be fun and effective so I chose to go with Rosetta Stone. I have not been disappointed! My experience has been wonderful - learning is fun and it builds upon itself so there's always time to review. I love it! I highly recommend purchasing Rosetta Stone - it is worth every penny!

Great for Alaska
Rosetta Stone offers a higher level of motivation to continue with the program once initiated. I have learned to value the dynamics of the program especially in the beginning when I had to figure out what to do next without instruction. This is an all encompassing learning experience and a great option for people craving to learn languages when local teaching options are limited.

RS French is the best
This approach to learning French is a sure-fire method.

I love Rosetta Stone
Two years ago I began to learn French on my own with books, internet sites and purchased sets of beginner CD's. I did make some progress, mainly because I was motivated to do so for an upcoming pleasure trip to France.
Last Christmas my husband asked what I wanted and I jumped at the chance to get the Rosetta Stone program. I had wanted it for a while, but felt a little guilty about the expense. Knowing he would have gotten me a pretty piece of jewelry and spent money anyway, I felt fine about this choice.
I have enjoyed the program so much and it is like a game as much as learning. I am an over sixty lady and have never been a computer gamer, but I can do this and love it. When not practicing on the computer, I listen to the CD's on my ipod. Whether housecleaning, gardening, driving or cleaning in our barn, I can multitask as we busy women love to do and learn at the same time.
My greatest regret is that some of my young friends are being systematically turned off from foreign languauge by a local high school teacher when it could be this much fun.
I have recommended this program to several people and perhaps next Christmas I will ask for the Spanish program as well.
Thank you, Rosetta Stone.

Excellent learning material
I have tried to learn French for many years and have given up quite a few times due to various reasons. French is not an easy language to pick up. Rosetta Stone did such an excellent job, now I almost finished level 2, and can't wait to get the later levels. The learning experience is fun and material is very useful. After completing the 1st level in about 2 months, I went to France and didn't feel completely left out, and was able to get around. Excellent job, Rosetta Stone!

Fun, friendly and fast
Love my Rosetta Stone French 1+2 with audio companion. I have studied several languages but never had this style of immersion in language without direct translation. No memorization of "he walks, she walks, they walk, we walk, you walk" but it is gently incorporated into the flow of learning. The vocabulary is ingeniously introduced so you understand without the English translation. The pictures are fun and distinctive. When I listen to the audio companion in the car, the pictures pop up in my mind. The computer program is fun and keeps me coming back frequently. I hope to buy the rest of the levels and to work on some other languages in the next few years. Super product.

Skepticism Disproved
As I walked through the airport a few years ago, I couldn't help but notice those brightly colored yellow kiosks that resided alongside the usual run of the mill stands selling everything from overpriced bottles of water to local chotchkies. They featured a product that promised to teach you a language in a revolutionary new manner...a technique described as learning a language like you would as a child. Well, needless to say I was skeptical and never really gave it that much thought again.
And now, after a few years I've found myself in a position where I needed to become fairly competent in a foreign language in just a few short months. I read some reviews and decided that Rosetta Stone might, actually, be the way to go. I bit the bullet and bought the level 1 and 2 French program.
For starters, the program is really simple to set up on any computer. The menus are self-explanatory and the tutorials start with the basics. If I were to criticize one aspect it would be that some of the lessons can be a little redundant. This is only a minor inconvenience as, in reality, you can only further your potential with the language due to this redundancy.
I've been at it for 3 months now and feel like I have a decent command over the basics of the French language. Of course, I'll really put Rosetta Stone to the test when I arrive in French speaking Rwanda later this summer. All and all though, up to this point, I would consider myself a satisfied customer. If you can find 15 minutes a day to dedicate to the software, you'll see for yourself what positive results you can attain.

Je parle francais - FINALLY! :-D
I have three years of the French language under my belt - 2 from high school and 1 from college - and I never really understood the syntax of what I was saying. I would see something, translate it in my head, then go from there. With Rosetta Stone, it teaches you the language like you would learn it as a child. No longer do I have to stop and think, "She is holding a pencil. A pencil is un crayon." Now, I just look at things and know immediately what they are in French! It is easy, fun, and you learn it in a way where it is second nature. I never thought I could actually "get it" as a second language, but with Rosetta Stone, it is easy fun, and even addictive!

Thinking French!
My husband gave me French levels 1 & 2 as a gift and wow, it's beyond great. I'm a singer who had to begin singing in French and I needed help. This course was the perfect solution for me, it's easy to use, I can go at my own pace, IT'S FUN & the method really does work. I didn't think I had an 'ear' for language -but not so! Now I'm starting to think in French & can't wait to begin the next levels. I actually look forward to my lessons, it's a very chic & modern way to learn. Merci beaucoup Rosetta Stone, you're a career saver.

Exercise Your Brain, Learn a New Language
I recently read a book on the brain and the author suggested learning a new language as a way to exercise the brain and stimulate memory retention. Since I had taken some French in high school and junior college I decided to purchase Rosetta Stone French Levels 1 & 2. The sales person told me spend 30 minutes everyday and in 6 months you will be having conversations in French. I have been pretty diligent with that schedule for the last 3 months and I'm feeling pretty confident about simple exchanges. Also, I can decipher what I'm reading pretty good and I can understand some of what I hear spoken in conversations. I'm not too good and writing it yet.
What I like about the program is that it covers pronunciation (you hear a chime when you say it right and a dong if you don't), grammar, reading, writing, vocabulary and listening. Seeing the words and hearing them spoken really helps to reinforce the language. I like the program enough to purchase the next 2 levels but what I would like to see changed for future versions is tutorials in English on the masculine/feminine aspects and how verbs are conjugated depending on if the noun is masculine or feminine. Also I would like to have more of what is learned at the beginning of each lesson carry over into subsequent lessons. Words and greetings from lesson 1 should be repeated in lesson 2 as part of the advanced lesson.
Even though the software is expensive I felt like you get plenty of material for the money. The audio companion is a very nice addition to the package. I had a couple of road trips interrupt my daily practice schedule at my PC but the audio companions kept me learning while I was away on the road.

Fun French Learning
I took 6 quarters of Conversational French 22 years ago but with no contact with the language most had not stayed with me. In planning our trip to Paris, I wanted to relearn some of the language. Units 1 and 2 have been really enjoyable for me. I only wish there was time to do more but we leave soon.
I have had so much fun that I plan to get the next 3 levels and keep up the study. Don't know when will get back to France but sure enjoyed the French.
The course is set up really well and the repetition helps with retaining older vocabulary and grammar. The written option can be very challanging but I believe is a valuble option to help the learning curve.
Because of business contacts I will use the Spanish version next. My wife speaks some Spanish and also wants do the same.

Amazed my friends!
I have several friends from France and they occasionally speak French to each other. I took Spanish in school so I only knew 3 or 4 words of French. After working with my new Rosetta Stone French CDs for a short time I was astonshed at how much of my friends conversation I could understand. I started speaking the French I had been learning and you should have seen their shocked faces! Thrilled with the results!

What a Difference!!!
I have been to visit Paris, France twice in my lifetime; during my first venture, my cousins and I had a bit of a rough time trying to communicate though we somehow managed to do it through some broken form of English. When I returned from my trip I decided that the next time I would see them, I would be able to hold down at least a conversation in their native tongue.
After reviewing many language programs including tutors and classes, I decided to try Rosetta Stone due to its highly recommended software and guarantee to significantly improve the way in which I could learn French, by doing it naturally.
As soon as Rosetta Stone arrived in the mail I immediately set out to achieve my goal. The user interface in the software was extremely easy to use and because of that I feel as though it didn't impede the learning process, within hours I was able to identify an array objects in the proper tense!
Eight months later I returned to Paris and while I still had much to learn of the language I was able to understand and hold basic conversation, to my surprise my cousins had done exactly as I did and had been learning English through Rosetta Stone as well!
All in all a wonderful product that is known throughout the world that delivers results, absolutely well worth the money, and I do plan on continuing to purchase from the company again.

French 1 & 2
At 53 this is the first time I have really had to use my brain since collage. The Rosetta Stone program has made the process fun and relatively painless. I started in November and now in April I feel pretty good about my ability to communicate the basics while over in France for the fist time. I think the best part is that the learning takes place the same way as your normal language development rather than what usually occurs when using traditional teaching methods later on in life. I speak fluent Italian having grown up in Italy and took Spanish as a second language in highschool. Even though Spanish is much more similar then French I feel more fluent with the French I have learned as a result of the Rosetta Stone process. Bill

POSITIVE EXPERIENCE
I have taken multiple language classes, listened to audios and seen DVDs to learn a language. I can honestly say that RosettaStone knows what they are doing.
My recent visit to London, France, Italy had me able to understand the language and gave me the confidence to speak the language.
I highly recommend this program for anyone who needs to learn a language quickly and effiecently.
You want the information to stay in your head, get this program.

A totally unregrettable purchace
I love this program. I love the fact that the whole program is in the language I selected; meaning no English. The program challenges you to use your innate ability to understand language. I won't lie, some parts are hard, but learning a new language isn't easy and I crave the challenge. I tell people I work with about it, and they can't believe all that I have learned in just 2 weeks. I believe that in this economy the Rosetta Stone program is a totally justifiable purchase.

Amazed at the ease of retention!
I am truely amazed at how easy it has been to retain my comprehension and begin using my French with my French speaking relatives. I have little time for study but this fits in great with a busy schedule. Thanks very much for my Rosetta Stone!

Learning is addictive
I never thought learnng a second language would be so addictive. The way RS lays out the program it is not only fun but you just don't want to stop. I have already recommended this product to a friend who is now using RS to learn a second language.
Thank you Rosetta Stone!

Je parle français maintenant.
I have thoroughly enjoyed using Rosetta Stone, Level I and II for French. All my life I have wanted to learn French so I finally bought the set. The learning comes at you from so many different directions (sight, sound, writing, pictures) that there is no way won't grasp what they are teaching you. Not only that, it is fun to use. I get addicted some nights where I'll do a few lessons, then I have to do "just one more", then "just one more". Seriously, I get completely addicted when I turn it on - but in a fun way - like trying to beat a great video game, or reading a great book. You have a hard time stopping. I highly recommend it to anyone serious about learning a new language.
