About Hebrew
Hebrew is spoken in Israel and in Jewish communities worldwide. It is one of the official languages of the State of Israel.
Hebrew Learning Tips
- Hebrew is written and read from right to left.
- The Hebrew vowels are represented by a system of dots and lines written underneath, above, and inside the consonant letters. With the exception of religious texts, poetry, and children’s books, Hebrew is typically written without vowels.
- Some words that are spelled differently sound the same. This is because Hebrew spelling follows historical conventions, representing differences that no longer exist. You’ll get plenty of exposure in the course to learn these words well.
- You’ll notice that verbs in Hebrew change form depending on whether the subject is masculine or feminine.
- In Hebrew, an adjective can have its own article.
