Portuguese (Brazil) Learning Tips
- Don’t be surprised if you see sentences without subjects in Portuguese. Rosetta Stone teaches you to identify who is speaking or who is being spoken about through the form of the verb.
- There are two categories of Portuguese nouns: masculine and feminine.
- Instead of answering a question with ‘yes,’ Portuguese speakers often answer with a verb. For example: Ela tem um livro?
Tem.- The pronunciation of certain letters depends on their location in a word. Rosetta Stone will help you learn proper pronunciation through guided exposure and practice.
- Portuguese has both formal and informal ways to address others, depending on the age of the speaker and his or her relationship to the person being addressed.
- Portuguese has two verbs that mean ‘to be.’ One is used for characteristics that are more permanent, and one for characteristics that are more temporary.
