French Learning Tips
- You’ll notice that many French words have accent marks, which help you properly pronounce words. Sometimes an accent distinguishes one word from another that is identical except for the mark.
- There are two categories of French nouns: masculine and feminine.
- You may notice that some letters are rarely pronounced at the end of a word. For example the ending -e, -es, or -ent in these words: la fille mange; les filles mangent. Rosetta Stone language learning software helps you learn the exceptions to this rule through guided exposure and practice.
- Depending on how they’re categorized, French adjectives appear before or after nouns in the word order.
- French has both formal and informal ways to address others, depending on the age of the speaker and her relationship to the person being addressed.
