COURSE FAQS
Rosetta Course is where you develop your language foundation. Here you'll build language skills with everything from full conversations to writing. Our Course curriculum has won numerous accolades over the years. Dig in and find out why.
What is Rosetta Course®?
Rosetta Course® is our core language learning solution. Not to be confused with the Rosetta COURSe app (for iPad, Nook and Kindle), these lessons are the building blocks of your new language. From lesson one, the language you're learning is the only one you'll use. From there, you’ll engage in our carefully sequenced set of lessons on the path to proficiency.
What will you learn in Rosetta Course?
Whatever language you choose, Rosetta Course will expose you to a variety of vocabulary, grammar, and real-life conversational situations to help build your bank of language. The lessons will touch upon subjects such as:
Level One: Master simple conversational skills, such as greetings and introductions, shopping, and much more.
Level Two: Navigate your surroundings and continue to build essential language structure. Talk about your environment and enjoy basic social interactions
Level Three: Learn to share your ideas, opinions, feelings and everyday discussions—from your interests to current events.
Level Four: Develop advanced conversation skills to navigate the workplace, care for your health, and move abroad.
Level Five: Develop command of the language. Learn to handle everything from emergency situations to discussions about family and traditions.
Can I take Rosetta Course lessons anywhere besides my computer?
If you want to take your language learning beyond the confines of a computer monitor or laptop, there are a variety of options to do so.
• Rosetta Course for iPad® - Take the full lessons of Rosetta Course with you on your iPad. Replicate almost the entire experience as you would on your computer. The only limitation is writing lessons are not available on the app. Requires an active TOTALe Online subscription.
• TOTALe Companion™ - These are specially designed lessons to supplement the primary lessons. While these are certainly no replacement for Rosetta Course, they allow for practice no matter where you are. Availible as a free download for TOTALe Online subscribers.
• Audio Companion™ - Purchased with the Version 4 CD-ROM, play these files in your CD or MP3 player to hear and repeat questions and answers that match up with what you learn in your Course Lessons.
How are the lessons constructed?
Rosetta Course is divided into Units with Lessons and Focused Activities. Core Lessons will teach you your new language, while Focused Activities build skills and reinforces the language you've learned. At the end of each Unit, a conversational Milestone prepares you for live practice in Rosetta Studio™. There are 4 Core Lessons and a Milestone within 1 Unit. There are 4 units per level.
How long does the typical Rosetta Course lesson last?
There are three types of activities you can take, the length of which varies:
Lessons- These are the core learning sessions, most should take roughly 30 minutes to complete.
Focused Activities- These reinforcement lessons run from 5-10 minutes.
Milestone- Expect to spend about 15 minutes during these conversational-style sessions to cap off your Unit.
